Emma White and Isolde Garrison were escorted out before they even entered the Jennings Family's foyer, and the incident didn't disturb the few family members inside the villa.
Here, Lucas Jennings was embarrassed by what happened earlier, so he simply took Azura Loomis out of the villa and, while walking along the garden path, comforted her,
"Azura, don't be sad, Brother Donovan is just biased. You even gave up your room, and he still said such things. So what if she just came back? It's nothing special."
Azura sighed softly and said gently, "Lucas, I know you mean well, but don't say such things again in the future. I was never a daughter of the Jennings Family. Everything I have should belong to Scarlett; Brother Donovan's words weren't wrong..."
"What kind of talk is that? In my heart, Azura is my only sister. I don't acknowledge that Scarlett Garrison!"
As they walked and talked, they suddenly heard Scarlett's voice,
"This housemaid has absorbed some karmic energy. If left unchecked, it might affect the family's geomancy. If my father pays me, I can help resolve it, just three thousand bucks."
The two turned their heads and saw Scarlett speaking earnestly to Mrs. Wu, holding up three fingers as she spoke.
Scarlett originally stopped Mrs. Wu because of the negative energy on her. Now that unrelated people were gone, it was time to get to work.
Even though she returned to the Jennings Family, Scarlett was not used to asking people for money. But this was the perfect opportunity to clear the negative energy and earn her college tuition.
Father and daughter must settle accounts fairly.
Luca Jennings and Donovan Jennings clearly didn't expect her to shift gears so quickly.
After all, geomancy and the occult didn't seem to fit Scarlett Garrison.
The two thought she was short on cash, using geomancy as an excuse to ask for pocket money.
They felt a bit pained.
When did the Jennings's children ever lack three thousand bucks for pocket money?
Donovan readily took out his phone to transfer money, "Is three thousand enough? I'll transfer you ten thousand, and if it's not enough, ask me for more."
Luca, preempted by his son, grimly took out his phone, intending to transfer thirty thousand, determined to give more than his son.
However, once the phone was out, he remembered he didn't have his daughter's contact information.
Scarlett knew they'd misunderstood something just from hearing their words.
"I'm serious," she said.
"We know, we know," Donovan smiled at her, his tone full of indulgence.
Mrs. Wu, initially stunned, snapped back and cooperated, "Miss, you say I have karmic energy? Then please help resolve it."
Scarlett: ...
Could these adults respect my profession?
Although not for the first time, Scarlett encountered such a situation.
She was about to speak when a sneer interrupted.
"You're shameless using such a low trick to swindle money, and for a mere three thousand bucks."
It was downright pathetic.
Lucas really couldn't help but speak up, even though he had just been reprimanded. He simply couldn't stand people like Scarlett.
Azura quickly followed, holding Lucas's arm apologetically,
"Sister Scarlett, Lucas didn't mean to speak to you like that, don't blame him."
Scarlett's gaze passed lightly over them, paying no heed, and redirected her focus on Mrs. Wu.
"Your Fate Palace's marriage line is broken, probably due to early widowhood, but you have a son. Judging by your features, your son is currently facing a calamity, likely related to finances."
Scarlett wasn't very skilled at face-reading, only able to state the basics.
Still, even the most fundamental observations clearly stunned Mrs. Wu, especially hearing about the financial calamity, her eyes flashed with momentary panic.
Scarlett continued, "Normally, your personal karma wouldn't affect the main house, but I see a slight link in your fortune with the Jennings... You've stolen wealth from the family."
Scarlett said the last sentence with certainty.
Mrs. Wu's body trembled violently.
Impossible; she must be bluffing. How could she know what I did...?
Luca and Donovan, initially dismissing her remarks as child's play, found her tone serious, and upon hearing the last part, their expressions turned slightly grave.
Azura looked at Mrs. Wu's reaction with apparent surprise,
"Are you saying, Mrs. Wu stole money from the house?"
Her disbelief seemed to suggest a misunderstanding, defending, "It's impossible. There must be some mistake. Mrs. Wu has worked in the Jennings Family for nearly ten years. How could she do such a thing?"
Mrs. Wu was internally flustered, but hearing Azura's words, she immediately looked wronged and sorrowful,
"Miss, you shouldn't accuse me of such things. How could I steal from the Jennings? Everyone in this house knows me. I'm not that kind of person."
She looked at Lucas and pleaded, "Young master, trust me, I would never do such a thing, I..."
She covered her face, appearing on the verge of tears.
Lucas, being young and having been cared for by Mrs. Wu growing up, seeing her look so wronged, instantly turned a glaring eye toward Scarlett and shouted,
"What's your problem? How could Mrs. Wu have stolen from the house? It's your first day back at the Jennings's. What could you possibly know? You accuse people baselessly just to scam a few thousand from Uncle, isn't that right?!"
To Lucas, Scarlett was just a stranger he met today, while Mrs. Wu had been with the Jennings for ten years. Naturally, he trusted Mrs. Wu more.
He grew increasingly discontented with Scarlett, the so-called cousin.
Azura also spoke, "There must be some misunderstanding. Did Mrs. Wu do something to upset you?"
Her words implied Scarlett was using power to settle personal scores.
Hearing this, Mrs. Wu seemed to catch onto something, immediately starting to cry,
"Miss, I know Madam mistook me for your real mother earlier, and you're upset. I'm lowly and can't be compared to someone like you. You're right to be angry, but you can't slander me like this. I'm old, and you're taking my life!"
