Chapter 7 Withdrawal and Cooperation with the Garrison Family

Donovan Jennings' voice successfully brought Emma White's precarious sanity back, as if a bucket of cold water was dumped over her head, instantly stopping all her actions.

At the same time, the commotion here finally caught the attention of people inside the villa. Luca Jennings came out.

"What's going on?"

As the current head of the Jennings Group, Luca was a figure who appeared in various media and financial reports. Emma recognized him almost immediately, and without further entanglement with Scarlett Garrison, her expression shifted to a smile and she greeted him.

"Mr. Jennings, I am the wife of Timothy Garrison, the president of Garrison Building Materials. I didn't expect you to be at home; that's really great."

Luca Jennings' gaze shifted across the faces of Emma White, Scarlett Garrison, and Donovan Jennings, his expression unchanging, he only asked,

"Mrs. Garrison, hello, do you have something you need to explain?"

With Luca Jennings' status, he didn't need to be so polite with people, as he was not someone who enjoyed being overly courteous. However, knowing that the person in front of him was from the Garrison Family who raised Scarlett, he showed a bit more patience and thoughtfulness, assuming she might be here to talk about Scarlett's living habits.

Emma White, not understanding his intention, was only humbly asked if she needed to explain something, which instantly inflated her vanity.

This was the head of Jennings Group, allowing her to dictate his actions!

It showed the importance of her company in the eyes of the president of Jennings Group.

The anger that had been stirred up by Donovan Jennings finally settled, and subconsciously, she puffed up her chest, "Indeed, there are some things I need to explain."

Emma glanced proudly at Scarlett Garrison beside her and quickly pulled over Isolde Garrison, "Mr. Jennings, this is my daughter, Isolde Garrison."

Isolde quickly greeted politely, "Hello, Uncle Jennings."

"It's like this, I know that for Sea City's landmark project, the government plans to choose eight students from the top four universities as city image representatives for the promotional video shoot. The final list will be submitted to Jennings Group."

Emma continued, "For some reasons, the slot that should have belonged to my daughter was taken by someone else. So I'm here hoping that Jennings Group could help switch the slot back. It's just a simple favor."

Luca Jennings slightly furrowed his brows.

He knew about this issue, but it was handled by the youngest brother, whom he hadn't questioned.

Given his personality, he didn't like affairs that involved personal favors.

But the person in front of him was from the Garrison Family who had raised Scarlett; Luca Jennings inevitably thought a bit more.

Well, consider it as repaying them for their kindness in raising Scarlett.

Thinking so, Luca Jennings relented, "I will inquire about this matter. Who is the person that took your daughter's slot? I'll have my secretary check."

"Scarlett Garrison," Emma White blurted out almost impatiently.

Luca Jennings' motion of pulling out his phone paused, and he looked up at Emma White, clearly stunned, "Who did you say?"

"Scarlett Garrison," Emma repeated, thinking he hadn't heard clearly, she straightforwardly pointed at Scarlett Garrison beside her,

"It's her, this child was actually adopted by our family earlier, but she's a thankless person, not only is she ill-tempered, she also likes to lie. I didn't expect that her biological parents would turn out to be workers at the Jennings home. I don't mean to speak ill of a child, but the nature she was born with is fixed, no matter how hard I try to teach her, she just cannot learn..."

Emma White tirelessly tried to frame Scarlett, and Donovan Jennings' face darkened; he finally understood what Scarlett meant by 'framing' earlier.

The butler and housekeeper beside were astounded.

To speak so disparagingly of the young lady right in front of Mr. Jennings...

Is this person out of her mind?

Scarlett had long been accustomed to Emma White's defamation, even the rambling she did earlier to the housekeeper didn't bother her.

But now, in front of Donovan Jennings and her newly met biological father, Emma White's words unexpectedly provoked annoyance in her.

This was the family that had just acknowledged her, she had just started to have a little hope for what she called family, but why, why does this person never want to see her do well?

Doesn't Emma White know what others would think when they hear her words?

She knows.

But she doesn't care; she simply wants the whole world to hate her.

When she was younger, whenever a teacher showed fondness for her or even praised her, Emma White would find various ways to slander herself in front of the teacher, making the teacher think she was a bad child.

The teachers probably never imagined a mother would speak ill of her own child; almost all of them believed Emma's words and thought of her as a bad child.

The less she was liked, the more Isolde could suppress her.

Later on, Emma White's dislike and defamation seemed to become a habit, just like now.

With her hand clenched secretly at her side, listening to the endless defamation, Scarlett finally couldn't hold back.

"Shut up!"

"Shut up!"

Two voices cried out in unison, and Scarlett Garrison instinctively turned her head to look at the other speaker.

It was Luca Jennings, his face cold as frost at that moment.

He looked stern by nature, and now, with his face even grimmer, his aura was incredibly imposing.

Emma White was instantly frightened into silence.

Luca Jennings, with a stern face full of pressure, glared at Emma White, "The daughter of the Jennings Family is not for an outsider like you to criticize or judge. Butler, show her out!"

Emma White was confused by his sudden change of face and failed to catch his reference to "the daughter of the Jennings Family," and attempted to ask again, but the butler had already efficiently started to see them out.

Luca Jennings coldly watched the mother and daughter being briskly escorted out, then turned to look at Scarlett Garrison and asked, "Did the Garrison Family also treat you like this before?"

As soon as he said it, he pursed his lips, feeling it was a pointless question.

If they dared to slander in front of him, he could only imagine how they bullied his daughter in the past at the Garrison Family.

He had thought that since his daughter was adopted by the Garrison Family, she would at least be well-cared for in terms of clothing and food, but to think... the Garrison Family turned out to be such people!

The more Luca Jennings thought about it, the angrier he became, and he turned to Donovan Jennings with a cold command,

"Call your uncle and tell him to withdraw from the cooperation project with the Garrison Clan!"

That cooperation project was originally set up to repay the Garrison Family for their care of Scarlett, with very favorable terms which not only gave the Garrison Clan profits worth hundreds of millions but also aimed to help the Garrison Family climb to the next level. However, now that he knew how the Garrison Family privately treated Scarlett, he would no longer allow the Jennings Family to support them.

They do not deserve it!

Donovan Jennings regained his previous smiling demeanor right then and straightforwardly pulled out his phone, "Alright."

Meanwhile, Scarlett Garrison watched Luca Jennings's outburst, and when she slightly lowered her eyes, the corners of her mouth lifted in a slight arc that even she did not notice.

Her new brother and new father seemed different from the Garrison Family.

...How wonderful.

At the entrance.

Emma White and Isolde Garrison were unceremoniously shown out of the Jennings Family's main gate.

Both were confused, wondering why Mr. Jennings suddenly got angry?

And what did he mean by what he just said?

The daughter of the Jennings Family?

Who?

Seeing that these two still hadn't comprehended, the butler thought to himself how foolish the Garrison Family could be?

They had raised the young mistress, and because of this favor, the Jennings Family's future benefits could definitely have included them, but the Garrison Family, evidently, still did not understand the true identity of the girl they intermittently referred to as a thankless wretch.

Being a butler, he took great pride in his professional conduct, not easily resorting to curses or sarcastic remarks.

He decided to politely remind them.

"Our Mr. Jennings lost a daughter eighteen years ago. Today is the day our young mistress returns home, so naturally, Mr. Jennings cannot tolerate those slanders against the young mistress. We cannot entertain you today, please leave."

After saying this, he turned and instructed someone to close the villa's main gate.

Leaving Emma White and Isolde Garrison standing outside, both in a daze.

Emma White, supporting her daughter's arm, asked bewilderedly, "Isolde, what did he just say… who is this young mistress?"

Isolde Garrison couldn't believe what she had heard, or rather, she was unwilling to believe it.

"It can't be… must have misheard."

The Jennings Family's daughter they were talking about couldn't possibly be Scarlett Garrison.

It can't be her!

Emma White then turned slowly to look at her own daughter, and after a long while, suddenly her legs gave way, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.

"We're ruined! We're completely ruined!"
