Chapter 18 I Will Move Out

"Ha..." Donovan Jennings suddenly let out a light laugh from the side, clearly amused by Scarlett Garrison's retort.

Adam Jennings's face darkened, "You're cheating! How is that possible?!"

Scarlett Garrison merely looked at him calmly, "Isn't this your logic? I'm just using your logic to negotiate terms with you, what's wrong with that?"

"Can the things at the National Museum be the same as a room?" Adam almost laughed from the anger.

Lucas Jennings couldn't help but chime in, "Scarlett, why are you being so petty? It's just a room, we're not stopping you from living there, is it necessary?"

Scarlett Garrison just smiled.

Yeah, so many rooms, yet it has to be hers?

Chase Jennings from the third house also stood up, "Adam isn't wrong, that dreamlike princess style is meant for kids, you don't seem to like it much, so why fight with a child? If it really doesn't work, I'll give you my room, and you can give that room to Violet. That way, no more arguing. For a room, you've been going at it since yesterday, it's practically a joke."

Lucas Jennings also murmured, "Isn't it just because of someone? The family never had so many issues before."

Between the lines, it was clear they were blaming Scarlett for causing trouble as soon as she returned.

Obviously, the room issue was orchestrated by Odessa, but everyone seemed to think it was Scarlett's fault.

Donovan Jennings listened to the back-and-forth, his smile gradually fading, but before he could speak, Adam Jennings impatiently spoke again, "Over and over, you just don't want to—"

"Yes, I just don't want to."

Scarlett's clear voice reached everyone's ears, and Adam was taken aback at her straightforward refusal.

Scarlett said it anyway, just looking at them with her clear, calm eyes.

After all, she's heard similar accusations growing up.

["Isolde is your sister, as the older sibling you should yield to her!"]

["How can this fox be kept at home, what if it scares Isolde? Hurry and get rid of it!"]

["You freeload at home, and now want to keep an animal, Scarlett, are you trying to upset the family?"]

She had long become used to such "accusations."

But being used to it didn't mean acceptance.

Everyone gets to live their first life, so why should I yield because you're younger?

Besides, that room was decorated by her parents with anticipation for her birth.

Someone once awaited her arrival eagerly, yet she only found out yesterday.

...

Ismeria Jennings had thought with a few brothers involved, the room would definitely be hers today.

But unexpectedly, Scarlett, this nasty woman, wouldn't give it up!

As it turned out, Azura was right; ever since she returned, Ismeria was no longer the only girl in the family, and everyone no longer favored her like before.

See, even Brother Donovan wasn't on her side anymore.

The more Ismeria Jennings thought about it, the angrier she got, and she burst into tears again.

"Waaah, I hate you! Get out of my house! Get out!"

As soon as these words were spoken, the hallway fell into a moment of silence.

Scarlett's eyelashes trembled, but standing there, she showed no visible emotion.

Lucas Jennings and the others were a bit stunned too.

There was fighting, but even Lucas, the most reckless in the family, knew some things shouldn't be said lightly.

Sure enough, a moment later, a cold and warning shout was heard, "Ismeria!"

Donovan Jennings looked at Ismeria with an unprecedentedly stern expression, scaring her so much she shivered.

She instantly forgot to cry.

Just then, two figures came upstairs; it was Luca Jennings and Blaise Jennings, clearly just back from the office. Luca wore his usual stern and imposing look, "What's all the noise about?"

Odessa's heart skipped a beat, and before the others could speak, she hurriedly pulled Ismeria over, forcing a smile as she explained, "The kids are quarreling; it's all my fault for not considering it thoroughly when preparing Scarlett's room. Ismeria wanted to switch with her sister, but Scarlett refused..."

In just a few words, she glossed over the brothers forcing Scarlett to give up her room and highlighted Scarlett's refusal.

Hearing this, Donovan frowned and was just about to speak up when he saw Blaise Jennings, puzzled. "It's just about a room. Wasn't it all rearranged yesterday?"

Luca Jennings frowned, looking at Scarlett, and said, "Put the room issue aside for now. Scarlett, I need to ask you something."

Upon hearing Luca Jennings' question, Scarlett instinctively looked at him, and he asked her in a deep voice, "Did you go to the Silva Family today?"

Scarlett's eyes flickered but quickly returned to normal, nodding. "Yes."

Luca Jennings' brows furrowed slightly, and his face became even more solemn. "Didn't I tell you yesterday to leave the Silva Family's matters alone? I'll handle it."

Seeing his father's attitude as wrong, Donovan moved forward, standing protectively in front of Scarlett, asking, "Did something happen?"

Blaise Jennings explained, "The Silva Family called the big brother, saying Scarlett went to see Mrs. Silva this afternoon and said some strange things, asking what was going on."

Upon hearing this, almost everyone's gaze turned toward Scarlett.

Those stares, whether shocked or reproachful, clearly blamed her for meddling.

Because of her previous comments, the Jennings Family had to be cautious regarding the Silva Family's daughter issue, yet she went and said nonsensical things to the Silva Family; was she afraid of good relations between the two families?!

"What are you trying to do? It's one thing to talk superstitiously at home, but you even went to the Silva Family. Didn't your uncle's words from yesterday penetrate your mind?!"

"Scarlett, you're so thoughtless! The Silva Family and ours have joint projects," Odessa said, exasperated.

Lucas Jennings followed suit, "Look at you; how long have you been home and already caused so much trouble!"

Scarlett stood there, ignoring the jibing around her, and directly addressed Luca Jennings, "I didn't say I belonged to the Jennings Family."

Blaise Jennings said, "If the Silva Family wants to check someone, they can find out. You were seen going there in the Chalmers Family's car."

Scarlett pursed her lips; she indeed hadn't considered it thoroughly.

Luca Jennings asked what she had said at Silva's. Mr. Silva's call had a tone as if suppressing something, seemingly a bit annoyed.

Scarlett briefly explained her visit to the Silva Family, including her noticing that Andrea Silva might be in trouble.

Everyone looked at Scarlett more shocked than before. Going to someone's house and saying they might be in trouble was like casting a spell on them!

Scarlett, it seemed, was just too thoughtless!

Luca Jennings looked at Scarlett, his expression tensing. After a moment, he only said, "You were reckless in this matter. Even if you do know, you shouldn't have gone to say such things. I'll explain to the Silva Family, but leave Miss Silva's issues alone."

Luca Jennings really didn't want his daughter, whom he'd finally found, to get involved in trouble.

Scarlett opened her mouth, about to say something, but Luca Jennings spoke again, "Regarding the room, since Ismeria likes it, let her have it. I'll have the butler pick another room for you and redecorate it however you like."

To Luca Jennings, a room didn't matter much. That room had been a symbol of his longing for his daughter, but now that she was back, a room wasn't crucial anymore. More importantly, he didn't want Scarlett, newly returned home, to have a strained relationship with the family members, making it difficult for her to get along well later.

Unbeknownst to him, his casual remark made Scarlett suddenly pause.

For a moment, light seemed to fade inch by inch from her almond eyes, like a fleeting firefly in the forest at night, disappearing slowly into the dark.

At the side, Donovan Jennings hurriedly spoke, "Dad!"

He was about to explain that the issue wasn't as simple as it seemed, but Scarlett had already spoken, her voice quiet yet firm, "No need."

Her tone was calm, but oddly, compared to yesterday, there was a hint of distance.

She looked straight at Luca Jennings, her voice mild, "I'll move out."
