Chapter 17 Mystical Sect Talisman Master

Scarlett Garrison left the Silva Family villa area and didn't return to the Jennings Family. Instead, she took a taxi to the house she had rented before.

An eighty-square-meter two-bedroom apartment, which Scarlett rented two years ago.

The living room was divided by a screen, which was Pretty Hamilton's activity area. In the corner, a small tent filled with its various toys was set up.

In the other rooms, there was a master bedroom and a study, with two long tables inside the study. One side was for various carving materials and tools, while the other side had yellow paper, vermillion, and various ancient books and magic artifacts. The two sides were distinct and different in style.

Scarlett walked forward and quickly packed a few items.

She hadn't brought any luggage to the Jennings Family, and she had used up all her amulets. Since she was going to exchange wisdom back for Andrea Silva, she had to prepare in advance.

As she was packing, the phone placed next to her suddenly rang. Out of the corner of her eye, Scarlett noticed the caller ID was "Temple Master of Clear Breeze Temple." After a moment of thought, she decided to answer the call.

On the other side of the line was an elder's voice.

"Young Scarlett, have you made a decision about what I asked earlier? Being a guest lecturer at the Capital Taoist Academy, don't you want to apply to Capital University? Capital University has a partnership with the Taoist Academy, so even if your score isn't sufficient, you can still get direct admission. But, if you ask me, going to university is a waste of time. Being a guest lecturer for two years at the Taoist Academy equals being an honorary tutor, which is equivalent to a master's degree…"

The elder spoke earnestly, but Scarlett didn't mind the long-windedness. She switched the phone to her other ear, listened until he finished, then said,

"I should be able to score well enough."

Scarlett continued, "But I haven't decided whether to go to the Capital Metropolitan area or stay in Sea City."

She had wanted to apply to Capital University just to distance herself from the Garrison Family. But now that she had left the family, she wasn't keen on leaving Sea City.

The elder, upon hearing her intention to stay in Sea City, forgot all about persuading her to go to the Capital Taoist Academy and cheerfully said,

"Sea City is good, a place full of talent and beauty. I have connections at Sea University as well, so I will decline the Taoist Academy for you. By the way, Scarlett, would you consider joining my Clear Breeze Temple directly? With your qualifications…"

Seeing that the elder was about to continue, Scarlett quickly refused, "No, I want to go to university."

There was a slight regretful sigh from the elder on the other end. But he soon continued, "We are out of peace charms at the temple. When can you send some more over? The usual rate, three thousand per charm..."

Hearing the word "business," Scarlett visibly perked up. She glanced down at the stock in her drawer and nodded, "Sure, I'll send twenty over first."

Twenty pieces would net sixty thousand.

After donating half, she still had thirty thousand left.

If she wanted to pay back the Garrison Family's upbringing expenses, selling charms alone wouldn't suffice.

Scarlett was a Talisman Master.

Within the Mystical Sect, there were Five Techniques: Mountain, Medicine, Fate, Physique, and Divination.

Talismans belonged to the "Mountain" technique, the most mysterious and difficult to master.

While Scarlett dabbled in all Five Techniques, her expertise and focus lay in talismanic magic.

Apart from special talismans, common talismans were written on yellow talisman paper. Drawing a talisman was basic talismanic magic. Beyond that, there were also engraved charms, like the jade token she gave Samuel Chalmers, and void talismans. The latter two required substantially more effort and concentration.

Unfurling the yellow paper and vermillion on the table, Scarlett poised her pen and focused. Her pen moved fluidly, sketching the talisman in one go. As she finished, a glimmer of spiritual light subtly appeared at the pen's tip, indicating a completed peace charm.

Scarlett quickly drew twenty in one go, taking barely fifteen minutes.

After completing the peace charms for Clear Breeze Temple, she thought of her brother's and father's protection. Reflecting on it, she took out a high-quality raw stone and began carving an amulet.

She spent the entire afternoon in the rental house. Not until it was getting dark did she pack up her things and return to the Jennings Family with Pretty Hamilton.

Upon entering the house and going upstairs, Scarlett had just opened the door to place her things inside when suddenly, a small figure came running toward her.

Turning her head, she saw six-year-old cousin Ismeria Jennings suddenly rush ahead of her into the room, pushing Scarlett while angrily shouting,

"This is my room, you can't enter my room!!"

Scarlett was momentarily dazed, glancing behind Ismeria to confirm it was indeed her room.

Just then, Odessa hurried over. Seeing Ismeria's actions, she quietly scolded, "Violet, don't be so rude, quickly apologize to your cousin."

However, Ismeria ignored her, pointing to the room behind Scarlett. She shouted at Odessa,

"Mom, you clearly said this room was for me! Why let her stay in it? You don't keep your word! I don't care! This is my room!"

Ismeria's voice was loud enough that Lucas Jennings and the other brothers came out from their rooms, hearing her words.

Scarlett understood immediately from those words.

That was why her aunt had initially prepared another room.

It seemed she wanted to reserve the dreamy princess room for her daughter.

Odessa, visibly embarrassed, hadn't expected her daughter to blurt it out and awkwardly explained,

"No… It's because Violet liked that room. I didn't know Scarlett would return, so I tried to comfort her…"

"It doesn't matter whether Scarlett returns or not, that has always been her room."

Donovan Jennings's voice suddenly came from the other side of the hallway, evidently drawn by the commotion as well.

He wore his usual gentle and warm demeanor, but when his peach blossom eyes lightly swept over, they carried a hint of chill.

Looking at Odessa, he coldly asked, "Aunt, weren't you aware of that?"

It didn't matter whether Scarlett was back; no one was allowed to take that room.

Odessa's face froze, red lips twitching slightly, appearing quite embarrassed.

Adam Jennings looked dissatisfied with his older brother's attitude toward their mother. He stepped forward, saying, "Brother Donovan, my mom didn't do it on purpose. It's just a room, and that room's style is meant for kids. Can't it be given to Violet if she likes it?"

As he spoke, his gaze subtly swept over Scarlett, seemingly displeased, "After all, she's an adult. Would she really compete with a child over a room?"

He said it as if she was the one vying for the room.

Scarlett raised her eyebrows slightly.

She didn't like arguing with people, but when someone directly addressed her, she wouldn't pretend not to hear.

"So you're saying, because she's young, I should give it up if she likes it, and if I don't, I'm competing with her?"

"Isn't that right?" Adam replied with an air of self-righteousness.

Scarlett nodded knowingly, "In that case, I like the painting 'A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains' at the National Museum. If you can persuade the museum to give me the painting, then I'll let her have the room, how about that?"

She spread her hands, expressionless, emphasizing, "After all, I'm young, and I only want a national treasure."
