Chapter 6: She Had a Child?

Outside Goddess.

A crowd of journalists had gathered, all waiting to interview Pei Liyan.

At that moment, Fang Mo glanced outside, his expression grave and solemn, "President, the arrival of so many journalists at once is probably not just a coincidence."

Pei Liyan's piercing eyes lifted to the scene outside. The reporters were kept outside the styling studio, and the resistance of such a modest workshop against the press was something to be recognized.

"Go and tell them," he directed, "to think carefully about whether they really want to interview me or not."

Fang Mo was taken aback for a moment, then quickly replied, "Yes, I understand what to do."

Fang Mo promptly stepped outside.

Pei Liyan watched through the floor-to-ceiling window as the reporters seemed a bit stunned upon seeing Fang Mo, and after a while, some began to leave.

In the end, only a handful remained, stubbornly refusing to leave.

Fang Mo returned to report. "President, there are three agencies' journalists who do not wish to leave."

"Did you find out which three they are?"

Fang Mo nodded. "All three are under Huo Sinan's news organizations."

"Huo Sinan!" Pei Liyan's eyes narrowed, a malevolent light flashing within them.

In a hushed tone, Fang Mo mentioned, "President, it is said that Miss Rui Qing has a very special relationship with Huo Sinan, and some even say that Mr. Huo's son is fathered by her."

"That's impossible," Pei Liyan stated firmly.

The image of the red mark he saw on the morning awakening in the hotel flashed through his mind.

Rui Qing was a first-timer.

And that night, he could also feel the girl's awkwardness, not at all like a woman who had given birth.

Fang Mo cautiously glanced at Pei Liyan, aware that the president had spent a night with Rui Qing, which altered his stance.

Nevertheless, he was merely stating the facts.

"There are such rumors outside; some people have directly heard Huo Sinan's son calling Rui Qing 'mom,'" Fang Mo explained, "And it is said that Miss Rui Qing did not stop him."

"Rui Qing has definitely never had a child," Pei Liyan replied coldly.

"Yes, I will remember that," said Fang Mo.

Pei Liyan cast a cool glance at Fang Mo, his tone mocking and detached, "Fang Mo, you are my special assistant. In the future, do not bring up groundless rumors. Understand?"

"Yes, understood."

Pei Liyan lowered his gaze, unlocking his phone to check the finance news.

Fang Mo looked outside at the few journalists who still showed no intention of leaving.

Looking at Pei Liyan and seeing no further instructions, he could only wait for new directions.

Half an hour later.

Qiao Rui opened the door and walked outside.

Pei Liyan slightly lifted his eyes and caught sight of the approaching Qiao Rui.

Then, the man's gaze intensified as it swept over Qiao Rui's face.

Jiang Jinfeng followed behind her, a look of sorrow on his face.

Fang Mo also observed Qiao Rui, seemingly disappointed.

He looked at Pei Liyan with concern.

Pei Liyan's gaze settled on Qiao Rui's face, his handsome features marked by obvious astonishment until his eyes finally settled on Jiang Jinfeng, "Manager Jiang, has she been styled already?"

His tone was filled with evident skepticism.

Qiao Rui appeared disastrous even after the makeover.

Pei Liyan had the illusion that there was, indeed, a difference before and after the styling.

The clothes were upgraded, becoming somewhat more upscale.

And the most eye-catching aspects of Qiao Rui should have been her long legs and her prominent features, along with her slender waist—all of which were accentuated.

Yet, it was that face, no matter how one looked at it, seemed too much like a country girl's.

Moreover, it felt as if Jiang Jinfeng's aesthetics were off, endowing Qiao Rui with a great figure but not a good face, as if lacking a soul.

Jiang Jinfeng's lips twitched, and he glanced at Qiao Rui before saying, "I, Jiang, am not skilled enough, and I deeply regret not satisfying Mr. Pei."

"It's my fault," Qiao Rui responded. "I have poor fundamentals; even Manager Jiang has a hard time improving me."

"Hard time?" Pei Liyan's eyes narrowed slightly.

Qiao Rui's heart suddenly tightened. Could those words have given Pei Liyan a clue?

Qiao Rui pushed up the black-framed glasses on her face.

Pei Liyan suddenly stood up and walked towards her.

Qiao Rui startled, instinctively wanting to back away.

She saw Pei Liyan approaching and reaching out to take off her glasses.

Qiao Rui frantically reached out to stop him but touched Pei Liyan's fingers instead.

Both were startled.

Pei Liyan squinted his eyes and said, "Take off these glasses."

It was these glasses that were too ugly, reeking of rustic taste.

"If I take them off, I won't be able to see the road," Qiao Rui said. "Or, how about I take them off, and you carry me?"

Jiang Jinfeng beside her was stunned.

Fang Mo also looked at Qiao Rui in astonishment, as if he thought this woman was overestimating herself.

Yet Qiao Rui didn't think she was being excessive and just looked at Pei Liyan.

Pei Liyan looked down at her for a while before saying, "Then you better keep them on."

Hearing those words, Qiao Rui visibly sighed in relief.

Pei Liyan's gaze shifted to Jiang Jinfeng, but he said to Fang Mo, "Fang Mo, double Manager Jiang's compensation."

Jiang Jinfeng didn't quite understand Pei Liyan's intentions now.

"Mr. Pei, you are too kind. I am incapable and couldn't satisfy you."

"No," Pei Liyan said with a slight smile. "I am very satisfied."

Jiang Jinfeng was again taken aback and subconsciously glanced at Qiao Rui.

Qiao Rui, with a calm expression, took a step back quietly, moving out of Pei Liyan's breath range, also giving Jiang Jinfeng a silent warning with her eyes.

"I don't quite understand Mr. Pei's meaning," Jiang Jinfeng straightforwardly asked Pei Liyan.

Pei Liyan gave a faint smile, "Manager Jiang is very good at uncovering people's strengths, truly impressive. Unfortunately, it's no use if someone doesn't cooperate."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Jinfeng almost reached out excitedly to shake Pei Liyan's hand.

This man was so understanding!

If it weren't for Qiao Rui insisting on changing her lipstick shade, insisting on wearing those glasses, choosing her makeup colors, always going against him, he wouldn't have been so shocked.

After Pei Liyan finished speaking, he smiled slightly, reached out, and took Qiao Rui's wrist, pulling her to walk outside.

Qiao Rui nearly gave Pei Liyan a judo throw.

This man pulling her hand without saying a word, truly domineering.

She held back, suppressing her instinctive reaction.

The spot where her wrist was held suddenly became unbearably hot.

She struggled hard, trying to break free from Pei Liyan's grip.

But the man suddenly pulled her into his embrace, and she bumped into his solid chest, immediately feeling dizzy, the warm touch reminding her of that night when they were entwined, spending the night together.

Qiao Rui felt like her whole body was about to ignite and became somewhat panicked.

Pei Liyan looked down, eyes directly meeting hers, and it seemed his deep pupils also contained certain emotions.

Qiao Rui stiffened, feeling her scalp tingle under Pei Liyan's gaze.

Because she felt an undisguised desire from the man.

Then, Pei Liyan leaned in close to her ear and said in a low voice, "Nice figure, Miss Qiao."

Qiao Rui was dumbfounded.

Pei Liyan stepped back and one could see his composed and steady demeanor, intently staring at her face without a trace of warmth, as if the words he had just spoken hadn't come from his mouth.

Qiao Rui clenched her teeth, "Thanks for the compliment."

"You're welcome," Pei Liyan responded indifferently. "There are reporters outside, they'll want to interview us."

Qiao Rui was taken aback and countered, "Aren't they probably here to interview you, Mr. Pei?"

"If you go out with me, they will interview both of us," Pei Liyan said with a slight smile, his face suddenly alluring.

After speaking, Pei Liyan grabbed Qiao Rui's hand, facing the reporters, and walked outside.
