NIGHTMARE SYNDROME CHAPTER 11: THE MEDICAL WING 3

Date: FEB-14, 2002/1:36 AM HAVN Facility-Upper Level/Research Area: Observatory Level; The Medical Wing: Treatment Area-C/Laboratory A couple of minutes later, the rest of Hyun-woo Dae's team arrived to his location. They were all regrouped and ready to press on, now they were on high alert, since they know that something was waiting for them. Before continuing Hyun-woo, he addressed his men, warning them to alert and sharp. They nodded to him in response, as they started heading through the hallway towards the next room of treatment area. In a tight formation they'd pressed onwards.

In a couple of moments they'd reached the opposite side of the lab, and found another door. Made from metal with cap words in yellow on a central plack that said, "AUTHORIZED PERSONAL ONLY" on the plack. Just like the entrance to the labs, it has three pathways, some artificial plants and chairs. Before they went to the door, the woman contacted them again, "The door you see in front of you, leads to the emergency area of the Medical Wing. The largest section, and at the other side the access emergency elevator to the lower levels. From what I can inspect...that area has very low power, and no sign of life."

Hyun-woo, told his soldiers what they might inspect in that next area, and their target was at the end of that section. They nodded to their Commander, as he commanded them to breach, since they were already on high alert from that woman's warning, he and his team weren't about to progress unprepared for another threat. As they approach the door, and swiftly opened it and aimed their guns into the room, their flashlights shining inside, looking around and not noticing the swift movement at the edges of line-of-sight. Believing things to be clear, Hyun-woo ordered his men to enter the area, and one by one, all eleven of them went in.

Date: FEB-14, 2002/1:39 AM HAVN Facility-Upper Level/Research Area: Observatory Level; The Medical Wing: Treatment Area-C/Emergency Operations: First Area The Korean soldiers have entered the dark room, greatly resembling any other treatment area of a high-end hospital. Hyun-woo was in the middle of his men, he then after a small scan on the area, he order his men, "남자들은 흩어져. 1미터 간격, 더 이상은 없어. 경계해!/Namjadeul-eun heut-eojyeo. Hana-miteo gangyeog, deo isang-eun eobs-eo. Gyeong-gyehae! (Men, spread out. One meter separation, no more. Stay alert!)" They nodded to him, and started spreading out.

In a one meter radius they started to search and clear the area, under Hyun-woo Dae's order. One of the soldier off to the right, saw some curtains and his curiosity overtook him. So he went to inspect that spot that caught his attention, with his assault rifle aimed and prime. Shining his flashlight around the area, he barely noticed a somekind of extremity that crawl back into the dark, hiding away from the light.

Barely seeing this movement, the soldier focused his attention to that exact spot and went to investigate. Passing by the set of curtains, acting as makeshift walls for some privacy to what seem to be recovery bed, like the one in hospital rooms. From all he barely managed to perceive, the spot he was in was a complete mess and has signs of old blood. A trail like someone was dragged away, using his flashlight to follow the trail he shun the light all over the area, thus aggravating something that is very dangerous, and close to him.

After a couple of moments he was about to start returning to the rest of his team. That's when as he turn around, and his flashlight shun through the dark, he saw a creature approaching. Acting out of mostly instincts, he backtracked and shun his light again, and saw the creature with two razor-sharp sickle hands, was already upon him. Before he could steady his aim and pull the trigger on his gun, the mutate had struck. Stabbing both it sickle-hands onto the soldier, in a blood curdling scream and the sound of a gun being fired, alerted Hyun-woo and the others.

The scavenger that attacked the lone soldier, not only was stabbing and slashing away at the body of the soldier. But it also attack and broke the flashlight, as the gun of late soldier was tossed to the side, showing clear signs of damage. While the Scavenger, was still attacking the dead body, Hyun-woo and his men reached the spot that they've heard the gunshots and the screaming from before. They shun their lights on the mutate, making it shriek in pain, as it used it sickle-hands to cover its disfigured, elongated face. It sway around trying to escape from the lights that were burning its skin, burn marks and sizzling sounds were coming off of the pinot-noir flesh.

Hyun-woo and his team were shocked at the creature appearance, upper half of its body resembles something humanoid, having long arms with sickled hands. While it lower body was that of a serpent, Hyun-woo saw another of men dead, and he yelled, "불!/Bul! (Fire!)" and all nine of them, began firing at the scavanger. These shots tore through the mutate, as it shriek and hissed in pain, trying to escape but being shot from nine different angles, it was futile. And in the end it died, dropping dead and utterly shredded from their shots.

Seeing it drop, Hyun-woo order the cease fire, and sent one of his men to check on their downed teammate. Hoping for any sign of possible survival. But in the end it was a false hope, the one that checked the body, shuke his head, signaling to Hyun-woo that their teammate was dead.

Hyun-woo fought the edge to scream. A said to his remaining nine men to take what is useful from the body. As he was the first to take something from the body, taking some bit of ammo for his sidearm, and leaving the rest for his team. While they did as he said, he walked over to the dead mutate, and inspected it, shining his flashlight on it. From what he could tell this new monster, was made for dark ambierments, and extremely sensitive to light. Even now dead, the light from his flashlight was actually burning the creature's flesh.

Aside from that at least this monster was easily taken down with firepower. Regardless were across the body it was hit, it seems that it was still quite susceptible to bullets. But the only thing that this monster had at its advantage, over them was stealth. Meaning that more than likely this wouldn't be only one of these things that face here.

Hyun-woo turned to his men and started to explain his team, his brief discoveries about the creature. He even suspect that the light from the soldier's flashlight, was the main reason it attacked him. With them possessing more information, they began to leave the area, going deeper into the treatment area. Eventually they reached a open doorway, leading to a dark passage way...

Date: FEB-14, 2002/1:53 AM HAVN Facility-Upper Level/Research Area: Observatory Level; The Medical Wing: Treatment Area-C/Emergency Operations: Examination Area/Observation Sector Now in another area, a very large place, filled with rows of descending chairs all placed in the direction of a huge glass panel. Some of Hyun-woo Dae's men, went down the stairs that were beside the chairs. Reaching the huge glass panel, they saw that they were in somekind of observation theater. That was position to see down a...operation room, similar to the ones that hospitals and research centers to demonstrate new methods in medical operations.

Despite this sight, this area was clear of any threats. Having just survived their first clash against a Scavenger, the nine soldier were more cautious now. Hyun-woo wanted to continue on, wanting to find the elevator so they can finally leave this place. But at that moment, as they were about to leave through opposite passage out this area, when that woman contacted them again. Lunara spoke to them, "Well, well. You managed to survive." Hyun-woo grind his teeth, as what he heard mocking from that woman's voice, as she continues to speaks to them, "You still have some distance to reach your goal. Careful, more of this mutate varient, lay in wait in the next area." That's when Hyun-woo yelled at the woman in English, "You find this amusing!? My men are dying! You could have told us of these monster! You could have warn us, and tell us how to kill these monsters!"

Lunara paused for a moment before responding in a cold and blunt voice, "This is the reason of your outburst? Well is quite simple, aside the desperate need to use one another. I needed insurance that your useful and resourceful to me. Do not think that your the one that holds the cards, I'm your only option to survive this situation if you can possibly able to live through this without me, then by all means show me." This bold and cold statement, while irritating what she said was true and Hyun-woo knew it. But this also showed Hyun-woo, that this woman...she wasn't normal, she was completely cold and unattached with morality and compassion. Hyun-woo could not lower his guard around this woman, she wasn't a enemy but she was for sure not a ally either, sighing he then asked this woman, "So do you have any useful for this situation?"

Lunara then she answered Hyun-woo Dae's question, "Good. From what I've seen in my video-feeds, there is quite possible that three or more scavengers, are hiding in the next area. I suggest that you all be cautious on proceeding onward." Hyun-woo translated the information that he gained, and with that they at least know now, that there at least three hostiles, waiting in the next area. And with that said, Hyun-woo ordered his men to head out to the next area. But Hyun-woo stayed put for a moment, and looking at the ceiling, he asked at the woman, "Hey woman! I have one question, what is your name?" She remained quiet for a moment, before she'd answered his question, "My name is Dr. Annabeth Lunara."

This was a shock to Hyun-woo. The main target of this mission, she was talking to him and "helping" them. This meant that they'll need to listen to her, and find her. It now seems that the only way to both accomplish this mission, and survive is to find, rescue, and secure Lunara. Hyun-woo, he then turn to the exit passageway, it was time to move on.

Date: FEB-14, 2002/2:00 AM HAVN Facility-Upper Level/Research Area: Observatory Level; The Medical Wing: Treatment Area-C/Emergency Operations: Second Area The nine remaining Korean soldiers, they proceeded on to the next area of the treatment area. Hyun-woo told his men to be alert, and be cautious on the use of their flashlights, while also their greatest asset it was also a danger to them. Both a weapon and lure for these monsters, called Scavengers hiding away in the dark of the room.

They began walking further into the room, similar to the first area, but also shows signs of extreme struggle. Along with a larger number of mutilated bodies of doctors, and researchers scattered around the sector. Old blood trails and stains all over the messy floor. They took some steps further in the operation room, Hyun-woo and his team were very close to one another, and alert for any sign of movement.

Everytime their flashlights shun somewhere in the dark, the creatures hiding away, would rush away from the light. But at the sametime these mutates, would crawl closer to the light-sources, wanting to destroy those lights and return to their absolute dark. Hyun-woo while he can't see the enemy, he can feel that he and his men were being watched. So the only option is to draw out the enemy, so they can kill them, before they become easy prey for these monsters.

Hyun-woo then told his men, "둘로 나뉘어서 서로의 등을 지키며 적을 열린 곳으로 끌어들인다./Dullo nanwieoseo. Seoloui deung-eul jikimyeo jeog-eul yeollin gos-eulo kkeul-eodeul-inda. (Spread out, in two. Watching each other's back, and draw in the enemy to the open.)" nodding to him. As the nine of them split-up, into three groups of two spread out, while Hyun-woo stays in one last group composed of three men. Back to back, they scouted and acted as bait to draw in the mutates into the open.

A Scavenger close to one of the group, slithered over to them. Approaching them in the attempt to ambush them, but then as it got closer, another group off the another side, managed to catch the scavenger in their sight. Blasting their lights onto the creature, causing the mutate shriek out in pain, alerting the others soldiers. The other group, turn to the scavenger, as it was about to scurry away. But the four soldiers started to shot at it.

The sounds of gunfire, alerted the rest of the team, but this also distracted them from the other scavengers, approaching the others. As Hyun-woo Dae's group and the other group, were attacked by the other scavengers in the room. Those scavangers swiped their sickle-hands at the closest soldier in their path, one scavenger stabbed the sickle-hand onto the throat of soldier, splashing blood onto the side face of that soldier's companion, as the scavenger dragged its victim away. While the other was pushed down by a sickle-hand stabbed into the belly, smashing the soldier into the floor the noise of the smashing against the ground, alerted Hyun-woo and the other soldier with them.

They saw their companion on the floor, bleeding and in the grasp of the mutate. Seeing this as the soldier, struggle to speak and breathe, his blood spewing out his mouth. Hyun-woo and his subordinate beside him, turned their flashlights next to the downed soldier, and spotted the scavenger. Burning it elongated mawed face, with their lights, and they started to shot at it...
