Donan opened the door, exhausted from another day of work, and what he found made him stop in his tracks.
The room, once simple and functional, had been transformed. Small lights hung delicately from the ceiling, casting a soft, golden glow. Flowers were arranged in strategic spots, emitting a subtle fragrance, while a table in the corner displayed a selection of light drinks and carefully prepared snacks. At the center of it all stood Luna.
She was wearing a dress unlike anything Donan had ever seen her in before. The fabric flowed gracefully, as if moving with her every step, while the cut accentuated her femininity with an elegant yet understated allure.
Her hair was loose, framing her flushed face. She seemed nervous, her hands slightly trembling as if debating whether to adjust her dress or hide something.
Donan blinked, surprised and speechless, but it was Luna who broke the silence, her voice a mix of shyness and determination:
"Happy birthday, Donan."
He took a step forward, still incredulous, as if standing before a dream he feared might vanish with a sudden movement.
"Luna... all of this... did you do this for me?" His voice faltered slightly, and he looked away, trying to hide the emotion swelling in his chest.
She nodded, a small smile playing on her lips.
"Today is your day. And you deserve more than this. You deserve to feel how special you are... how incredible you've become."
The two drew closer, and Donan gently took her hand, noticing how warm and trembling it was. He chuckled softly, more to ease the tension he felt.
"I don't know what to say."
Luna smiled, this time more confidently.
"Then don't say anything. Just enjoy the night."
She guided him to the table, where they talked for hours. Time seemed to stand still as they shared stories, memories, and laughter.
Yet, there was something more in the air. Something unspoken but deeply understood by both.
When the lights dimmed even further, Luna stood up and, with a look that blended anticipation and vulnerability, approached Donan.
He also stood, unsure of what to do, but her gaze held him in place.
"Donan..." Luna began, her voice low, almost a whisper. "Today isn't just your birthday. It's the day I want you to know how much you mean to me."
He stared at her, and for a moment, it felt as if the entire world had disappeared, leaving only the two of them there. Then, carefully, he cupped her face in his hands.
"You don't have to say anything, Luna. I know. And I feel the same."
The kiss that followed wasn't just an act of passion. It was a promise. A total and unconditional surrender, where every touch was filled with respect, where every breath was a declaration of trust.
There was no rush, only the certainty that this moment was unique and true.
That night, Luna and Donan connected in a way that transcended words or gestures. They became more than companions; they became partners, accomplices in a journey that promised never to fall into monotony.
As the night came to an end, Luna rested beside him, and Donan, with a serene smile, whispered:
"Thank you for believing in me... and for teaching me to believe in us."
Luna simply smiled, her hands intertwined with his, a symbol of the bond they had built, brick by brick, just like the home they now called theirs.
