Chapter 83: Banned

A few seconds later, a towering wooden figure stood before everyone's eyes.

"Did we come to the wrong place? This is... the first-year division, right?"

Togata Mirio looked at the massive wooden warrior that took up almost the entire ring and couldn't help but ask.

Although Nighteye had mentally prepared himself, he was still shocked when he saw the sudden appearance of this giant.

"No, this is the first-year division. It's just that this year's first-years are... special."

Nighteye said in a serious tone.

"Yeah, no wonder this year's first-year tournament is so popular. It's even more exciting than the third-year matches."

Togata Mirio couldn't help but be amazed.

"Say, how about we recruit this guy into our agency?"

Nighteye turned to Togata Mirio and asked.

"That's a great idea, but it's not up to me. He has to be willing. This is my first time seeing him—I don't even know his name. But judging from his strength, he might even be stronger than me."

Togata Mirio said with a grin.

Nighteye looked at Togata Mirio and let out a sigh.

Togata Mirio's Quirk, Permeation, was once considered one of the most useless Quirks. But he had turned it into one of the most powerful abilities through sheer effort.

However, its weakness was also clear—it required incredible physical ability to use it to its full potential.

Originally, Nighteye had chosen him as the ideal successor for One For All.

But in the end, All Might passed it down to Midoriya instead.

"If only All Might had listened to me... you would be even stronger now. And with this new genius appearing out of nowhere, he could single-handedly strike fear into the villains of the entire country."

Nighteye muttered to himself, filled with regret.

"Maybe."

Nighteye responded softly.

"Nighteye, I won't stay and watch with you. I need to handle something over at the third-year division. I only stopped by for a quick look, but I ended up running into you."

Togata Mirio said with a slight smile.

"Go ahead, don't mind me. I was just passing by to take a look as well."

Nighteye replied.

Togata Mirio nodded, then turned and walked away.

Nighteye's gaze followed his back before shifting back to the giant wooden warrior in the arena.

For a moment, he imagined it growing countless arms like a Thousand-Hand Giant.

Of course, he knew that wasn't the case here.

Just then, a sudden explosion echoed through the stadium.

Along with it, the temperature in the area rose significantly.

Thick white smoke covered the entire arena.

"Whoosh!"

A strong gust of wind blew through, thinning out the smoke.

And then, the massive wooden warrior reappeared before everyone's eyes.

"So this... is your ultimate move?"

Todoroki Shoto, panting heavily, asked, "Ezaki Kitazawa...?"

Ezaki was momentarily stunned before replying, "Yeah!"

"Most of your giant has been burned by my flames. Its attack power should be greatly weakened, right? Am I right?"

Todoroki continued questioning him.

"Hmm? Yeah, I guess that's true. But... I can repair it instantly!"

As Ezaki spoke, he waved his hand, and the damaged wooden giant began to regenerate at a visible speed.

In less than five seconds, it was completely restored.

Todoroki's expression darkened.

He had thought that if he could destroy the giant, he might have a chance to win. But now, it seemed like that was just wishful thinking.

"Alright, now it's my turn! Todoroki, you'd better watch out!"

Ezaki said as he controlled the wooden giant to launch an attack.

Todoroki quickly dodged.

*Boom!*

The ground cracked and caved in where he had been standing.

If that punch had hit him, the consequences would have been serious.

In the blink of an eye, the arena was covered with craters and cracks everywhere.

If the area were any bigger, the entire stadium might have collapsed.

*Bang!*

In the end, Todoroki was struck by the wooden giant's fist and sent flying out of the ring.

"The first round is finally over! The winner is Hero Course Class 1-A's Ezaki Kitazawa!"

As Present Mic's announcement echoed through the stadium, the audience finally erupted in cheers.

To be honest, many of them were a bit scared of that giant, but once they saw that no one was seriously hurt, they let out a sigh of relief.

"There's one more thing to announce. This is a bit sudden, but it's something that had to be done."

"After the school's final decision, Ezaki Kitazawa from Class 1-A will no longer be allowed to use that giant!"

"There are two reasons for this. First, the level of destruction is too high. If he keeps using it, it'll take way too long to repair the arena after each match. Second, it's for the safety of the other contestants."

"But still, that match was incredible! Both of them are crazy strong!"

"Huh? It's banned?"

Ezaki was surprised for a moment but didn't seem too bothered by it.

He had only used the wooden giant technique to show Todoroki that he took the fight seriously. Besides, if he couldn't use the wooden giant, he still had the wooden dragon.

"Sorry about that! I didn't think the school would ban your ultimate move."

Todoroki got up from the ground and spoke in a serious tone.

Ezaki walked over, patted Todoroki on the shoulder, and said, "What's there to be sorry about? It's not like I can't fight without the giant. It doesn't really affect me that much."

"...Yeah, I guess that's true."

Todoroki let out a cold chuckle.

"Next, we'll be taking a break for about an hour. The arena has been seriously damaged and needs repairs. But don't worry, we'll get it done as quickly as possible!"

Present Mic explained to the audience.

To be honest, if people didn't know this was a tournament, they might have thought the place had been hit by a natural disaster.

Luckily, U.A. had someone like Cementoss, who could use his Quirk to repair the arena.

Otherwise, with the way things were going today, they would've had to move the entire competition to a different location.
