Chapter 82: My Son Will Go On His Own Way

The temperature in the stadium dropped rapidly, so much that the audience could feel it.

"Amazing! Todoroki Shoto started with a full-power attack to overwhelm Ezaki Kitazawa right from the beginning!"

Present Mic exclaimed.

"Hey... this looks familiar!"

One of the spectators commented.

"Don't you remember? During the recommendation entrance exam, he used the same move against Ezaki Kitazawa."

Another spectator added.

"Well, he is the son of Endeavor, the hero second only to All Might, after all."

"That guy, Ezaki Kitazawa, is the real deal. He doesn't have any powerful bloodline, yet he got to where he is today purely through hard work. That's pretty much a miracle."

As the audience was deep in discussion, the massive ice mountain created by Todoroki Shoto started to collapse.

The pro heroes in the stands quickly moved to block the falling ice, ensuring the safety of the spectators.

In just a few seconds, the entire ice mountain shattered, leaving the arena covered in chunks of ice.

Todoroki Shoto frowned. Seeing that his first attack didn't work, he immediately launched a second one.

He lifted his right foot, and a white mist rose from it. Then, with a loud shout, he stomped down hard.

"Sizzle!"

Countless ice spikes erupted from the ground, growing larger and larger as they shot toward Ezaki Kitazawa.

Ezaki Kitazawa watched the incoming ice spikes with a calm expression. He raised his hand, and in an instant, countless trees burst out from the ground, surging forward like a tidal wave to collide with the ice spikes.

"Todoroki Shoto!"

Shards of ice and wood flew everywhere.

"Haaah!"

With another loud shout, Todoroki Shoto sped up the growth of the ice spikes.

The ice pushed forward, slowly breaking through the wave of trees and inching closer to Ezaki Kitazawa.

After several seconds of intense impact, the ice spikes finally broke through and charged straight at Ezaki Kitazawa.

But just as they were about to reach him, he swung his arm, sending out a powerful gust of wind that shattered the oncoming ice spikes instantly.

Todoroki Shoto froze in shock, unable to believe what had just happened.

He never imagined that Ezaki Kitazawa's raw strength had already reached this level.

Of course, with the help of a Quirk, it wouldn't be too surprising to achieve this, but Ezaki Kitazawa hadn't even used his Quirk just now.

"Why does it feel like the harder I work, the bigger the gap becomes?"

Todoroki Shoto's expression grew serious. He had believed that if he worked hard enough, he could close the distance between himself and Ezaki Kitazawa.

But reality was cruel. No matter how much effort he put in, the gap only widened. It was hard for him to accept.

Meanwhile, in the back row of the audience, Endeavor stood with his arms crossed, watching the entire battle unfold.

His expression was even darker than Todoroki Shoto's.

Because at this rate, Todoroki Shoto was highly likely to follow in his footsteps.

Yes—the same path he had walked.

The path of a lifelong second place.

Once, Endeavor had chased after All Might, striving to surpass him. But the faster he ran, the more he realized the gap was only getting bigger.

When all hope seemed lost, he resorted to Quirk-based marriage, aiming to create the ultimate weapon to surpass All Might.

But in the end? Fate wasn't on his side.

Not only had he failed to surpass All Might, but now another person had appeared, forcing his son to go through the same struggle.

It was as if history was repeating itself.

Thinking about it, Endeavor couldn't help but feel a bit pathetic.

"This guy… he's just as infuriating as that bastard All Might," he muttered through gritted teeth.

Meanwhile, on the path leading to the first-year sports stadium, Togata Mirio ran into Sir Nighteye.

"Sir Nighteye? Are you heading to the first-year arena?"

Togata Mirio asked with a bright smile.

"Hm? I need to talk to All Might about something. By the way, how are things on your side?"

Sir Nighteye adjusted his glasses as he asked.

Of course, saying he was going to talk to All Might was just an excuse.

The real reason he was heading there was to see the young man he had predicted—Ezaki Kitazawa.

"It's going fine. The matches are about to wrap up. I was heading to the rest area when I overheard someone saying there was an incredible match happening in the second-year arena, so I came to check it out."

Togata Mirio explained.

"Is that so? Then it looks like we're going to the same place. Perfect, I'll take a look at the later half of the first-year matches too."

Nighteye spoke calmly.

At the same time, after an intense battle, the arena was already in ruins. The ground inside the ring was full of cracks and craters.

Todoroki Shoto was breathing heavily, exhausted from the fight.

Ezaki Kitazawa looked at him and sighed. If he just carried him out of the ring like this, it would hurt Todoroki Shoto's pride too much.

"If that's the case, I'll have to put on a bit of a show."

Ezaki Kitazawa muttered to himself with a smile, then looked at Todoroki Shoto.

"Are you ready? I'm about to unleash my ultimate move!"

Hearing this, Todoroki Shoto's pupils shrank slightly.

"So it's finally come to this?"

"Haah!"

With a loud shout from Ezaki Kitazawa, the ground started to shake.

The last remaining parts of the ring completely collapsed.

Right beneath Ezaki Kitazawa's feet, massive wooden structures shot up, slowly forming the shape of a giant wooden warrior.
