Chapter 10 Anticipation or Excitement

  Morgan's PoV

  The howling wind clawed at the walls of my cabin, and after depositing Melanie on the couch set a little way back from the fireplace, I crouched at the side of the fire, adding another log and stoking the embers.

  "We need to get you warmed up. Your exposure to the freezing water and the extreme conditions out there isn't a good thing."

  She nodded blankly at me as my mouth set in a grim line. I knew what needed to be done, but I wasn't sure that she was going to be happy about it.

  "Let's get those wet clothes off you. We need to dry you up." I said gruffly as I nodded in satisfaction at the flames that danced higher across the logs, "I'll go and grab some towels and a change of clothes."

  She nodded wordlessly again and I frowned as I set out to gather the items I needed. I expected her to be a little more reluctant than she was currently and it worried me about the true extent of her condition.
