Ella's POV
I had to concentrate on keeping my mouth shut while staring. Right on the other side of the massive round table, Lauren had the exact same reaction as me.
Ryan had insisted I followed him going to work; I had done my best to twist and turn out of it. But he would not have it. He had a meeting in my building he needed me at.
My stomach had been upset all the way there. I knew it wasn't my fault, but I was embarrassed either way. I lost my job, got sacked, and offered to step in as a cleaning lady instead. It was humiliating and degrading. I didn't want him to know, didn't want him to pity me or look down on me. So, without any more objections, I followed him.
