Ella's POV
I've been waiting for Ryan to barge in. To slam the door and yell. This time I waited for it, twisted my thumbs, and dreaded it. I played the yelling, the scolding, and the accusations over in my head. Mentally preparing myself for what was to come. Desperately trying to build up a wall that could protect me. How could I have been so stupid? Thinking she would be my friend? Was I that desperate and lonely?
I didn't even look up when he finally walked in. Kept staring at my fingers like something magical was happening to them. The bed dipped next to me as he slumped down, and my heart jumped up in my throat. I closed my eyes and waited. After a couple of very long minutes, I opened them and found the courage to look at him. To my surprise, there was no anger. No accusations. He just leaned back, his arms holding him up, and stared right into the room.
"What happened?"
