CHAPTER 30: "What is it?"

The following day, the gentle warmth of the sun streaming through the open window roused me from a deep, restful sleep. As I blinked away the remnants of slumber, I realised that I must have been so exhausted from the previous day that I had fallen asleep almost immediately upon reaching our home. Gabriel must have carried me up here. This was another of his many apartments. I couldn't believe how much he owned around here.

A soft smile tugged at my lips as I spotted the scan photo of my twins resting on the bedside unit. The image of their tiny forms brought a rush of emotions to my heart, filling me with wonder and anticipation.

The tantalising scent of sizzling bacon wafted through the air, mingling with the distant sound of laughter floating down the hall. The comforting sounds and smells of breakfast being prepared filled the air, creating a sense of homely warmth and contentment.
