"Mia? Oh Mia, how good to see you. Why am I here in this hospital?" He stuttered.
As my father continued to speak, confusion clouded my mind. Why was he calling me by my step-sister Mia's name? Had he truly lost his memory? My heart sank at the thought of my father not recognising me, his daughter.
I looked over at Gabriel, who had a concerned expression. He didn’t open his mouth to say anything. There wasn’t anything he could do or say to make me feel better. I turned my attention back to my father. He was staring right through me as if I wasn’t there. I had to get him to remember me.
"Dad, it's me, Daisy," I said softly, trying to get his attention. "Do you remember me? I’m your daughter."
He looked at me with a blank expression, and I felt a pang of sadness grip my heart. My father, who had always been there for me, didn't know who I was. It was a devastating realisation to come to terms with.
