CHAPTER 93 It's Nothing

  Dana POV

"It seems like I failed to meet your expectations," Ares remarked, his voice breaking the silence that enveloped us. I turned to face him, meeting his gaze with a mixture of apprehension and defiance, unwilling to let down my guard despite the faint stirrings of doubt that tugged at my resolve.

'He has no right to speak like that,' I thought, my resentment simmering just beneath the surface as Ares dared to broach the subject of our fractured relationship.

"Well, at least he tried to fight for our relationship. What about you? You probably kept stalking us," I retorted, my words laced with bitterness, the pain in my heart still raw and unhealed.

"I've been trying to talk to you, Dana," Ares countered softly, his voice tinged with a hint of pleading as he sought to bridge the chasm that had grown between us.

I refused to meet his gaze, unwilling to be swayed by his words alone.
