"Why did you tell my mother that?" I managed to ask, forcing myself to stop gawking at Alexander like a horny teenager.
His eyes roamed around the hall, and he shrugged, glancing at me.
"You said it yourself. That even in questionable moments, love exists. It's one of my favorite lines from your book too. And we did date, didn't we?"
His words made my heart race and I forced myself to not draw any conclusions from what seemed to be a seemingly innocuous comment.
"I'll let you enjoy your party and we'll talk more at dinner," Alexander said, his voice low. A small smile played on his lips as he turned to leave. I watched him disappear into the crowd, my mind reeling. He was actually here. In the same room as me. Asking me out on a date. No, not a date. It was just dinner, so why was I panicking?
