  "It might be prudent to confine her," I suggested tentatively, noting the unsettling smile that crept across Ethan's face.

  "Damn, I adore that about you," he murmured huskily.

  Suddenly, Maya's low growl reverberated through the air, her eyes blazing crimson as she bolted toward the dense forest.

  "No!" Ethan's voice thundered with frustration, his anger palpable as he sprinted after her.

  Fear clawed at my heart as I trailed after Ethan into the dense forest where Maya had vanished. I dreaded the danger he might face. Unable to shift into my wolf form, I pushed forward, my anxiety mounting with every step. Suddenly, my path was obstructed by Mary.

  "Mary, what are you doing here?" I gasped, breathless from both exertion and worry. There was no time for conversation; action was imperative.

  She stared at me with intensity, blocking my path once more.

  "I have to go-" I started, urgency coloring my words.
