Autumn
"Yesterday, you promised," His mention of our missed drink appointment from yesterday caught me off guard. I attempted to respond, but words failed me. Mason chuckled softly, reading my silence effortlessly. "No need to explain," he reassured me with a knowing grin. "I know you've been busy," he concluded, his understanding drawing a genuine smile from me.
"Thanks for understanding," I replied sincerely, appreciating his empathy in a world where trust was a scarce commodity.
Mason leaned in slightly. "So, what's occupying your time these days?"
I hesitated briefly, then crafted a response laced with half-truths. "I've been overseeing the training of our younger members, exploring new combat techniques," I stated confidently, masking my true intentions. Mason nodded approvingly.
Mason smiles. "Yes, I guess we could have a small talk later. Maybe around the pack?" he suggested, his tone inviting and hopeful.
