CHAPTER 61 Do You Feel No Remorse?

  "Do not be afraid," one of the guards reassured me hastily. "We're under strict orders not to harm you, or there will be severe consequences. You're needed to face the public outside for some reason, that's all."

  My anxiety spiked. "Oh no-"

  "I'm sorry, but you can't refuse our orders," the other guard interjected firmly, their tone brooking no argument as they continued to lead me away.

  I was escorted out to the courtyard of the pack's castle, where a throng of people awaited, their voices blending into a cacophony of accusations and questions.

  "Is it true? Are you a hybrid? A witch-wolf?" someone shouted above the rest.

  "How could you be so heartless? Did you cause the death of a child?" another voice accused harshly.

  "Do you feel no remorse?" someone else yelled.

  Feeling overwhelmed and defenseless, I turned to the guards beside me. "What am I doing here?" I whispered, my voice barely audible over the clamor.
