CHAPTER Nine Who Do I Truly Love?

  Adam's POV.

No matter how hard I tried to focus, my mind kept wandering back to Elena. The thought of her betrayal lingered, refusing to be dismissed. I couldn't comprehend how she could do such a thing. Elena had always been the epitome of devotion.

She had loved me with a ferocity that I had never been able to reciprocate. I was her first love, the only one that had laid hands on her not until last night, and she had never even glanced at another boy with interest. So, how could she possibly justify moving on?

As I lifted my gaze, I noticed students filing out of the classroom, and it dawned on me that the class had come to an end. With a heavy sigh, I rose from my seat, my eyes locking onto Anna across the room.

She flashed me a playful wink, and I responded with a brief nod. If only she knew that her antics were the least of my concerns at that moment.
