Elena's POV.
My gaze darted between Derek and Mercy, and with a sigh, I let my questions slide. I couldn't confront him in front of Mercy. Instead, I watched as he turned and walked away, leaving me with a mix of emotions and unanswered questions.
Mercy halted beside me, her hands on her knees as she panted heavily.
"Where the hell have you been? You made me run!" she exclaimed, her eyes scanning me for any signs of harm.
"Adam tried to kiss me forcefully," I mumbled, my voice barely audible.
Mercy's expression turned fierce, her eyes widening in outrage.
"Adam did what?!" She asked, her jaw dropped. I gave a curt nod.
"That bastard! I swear, if I catch him, I will kill him!" she declared, her anger palpable.
I chuckled, despite the lingering fear. Typical Mercy, I couldn't help but smile.
I took her hands in mine, trying to reassure her. "I'm fine, Mercy. He didn't do anything. Professor Derek saved me in time."
