Elena's POV.
"Are you okay?" Professor Derek asked, his low, husky voice sending a thrill through me. How did he manage to affect me so profoundly with just his voice? I felt my legs tremble beneath me as he spoke again, his tone laced with concern.
"Are you okay?" He asked again.
I nodded hastily, trying to compose myself. "Yes, yes, I'm fine," I said, gently pulling myself away from the grasp. "So sorry about that!" I said looking away so he couldn't see me blush.
"Thank you for saving me," I said, my voice filled with gratitude as I took a step closer to Professor Derek.
I wanted to hug him, to express my thanks physically, but he shifted slightly, and I hesitated. Had he moved away on purpose, or was I overthinking this? To avoid any embarrassment, I extended my hands instead.
"Elena," I said, my voice soft.
Professor Derek looked at my hands, then back at me, his expression unreadable.
