CHAPTER 115:The end of the beginning

I've been in scary situations countless times, but this level of fear was extremely new to me. If not for Sinclair's presence, I probably would have lost my mind. My heart kept racing, and I couldn't stop my hands from shivering.

After what felt like an eternity, the doctor returned, and I tried to find hope in his eyes, but they were cold.

"I'm sorry, we lost her..." his voice replayed in my head, and for almost a minute, I forgot how to use my voice. The world I worked so hard to build, brick by brick, crumbled so quickly, right before my very own eyes.

"Doctor, you can't tell me you lost her. This is one of the most reputable hospitals in this entire town, so how could you not save her?" Sinclair asked, but as the doctor spoke, I lost track of his voice.

My life just took the worst turn. I dragged my legs to my mother's ward, ignoring the constant calls from Sinclair. I didn't stop walking until I got to the ward and stood by her bed.
