Lysandra's voice trembled slightly as she spoke, "And that's something that I really… don't know. I need you to tell me what kind of connection you have with these men you seem so worried about. You know you can't trust people these days!"
I squirmed uncomfortably, wishing I could retract my words. It was hard to withhold all the information or defend myself without inadvertently mentioning Zane.
"Please, Calista," Lysandra pleaded, her voice tinged with concern. "You don't have to face this alone. Just confide in me. Tell me about these men so I can help you decide what to do." She sighed softly, her words hanging in the air.
"How am I supposed to help you in that situation if you can't even tell me more about it?" Her disappointment was evident in both her voice and expression, and I felt a pang of guilt.
