I glanced around nervously, my fingers clutching at the edge of my jacket. "Zane…" My voice faltered as I struggled to find the right words.

Zane stepped closer, his eyes steady, his hand reaching out as if to bridge the gap between us. "Calista, no," he said firmly. "I'm not trying to pressure you."

I drew in a shaky breath. My gaze darted between the shadows around us. "I know," I finally murmured, my voice barely a whisper. "But right now, I don't even know how to handle this… I'm lost."

I met his gaze. "But there's one thing I do know."

He raised his brow a little bit. "What is it, Calista?" He asked, there's a desperation in his voice and I am looking at him like I can't breath and I am still unsure.

"I don't want to lead you on, I mean-"

Zane cut me off, his expression calm but insistent. "I understand. Just tell me."

I swallowed hard. "I like you, Zane."
