CHAPTER 40: Scheme execution

  Lydia's POV

The next morning, I take a day off from work. My leave is backed up with the permission from Chief himself. My morning starts slow and steady as I open the door the same time as Grace exits her room as well.

"Oh, good morning!" I chirp at her. She looks rather tired as I chuckle,

"Good morning..." She greets me back, almost inaudible. We go downstairs to the kitchen, serving ourselves some cereal and milk. We sit at the couch rather than the dining table and eat in silence.

"You look excited, Lydia. That's good." Grace comments.

"Oh yes, I'm way more than just excited! Do you know that feeling where you're saving people from the shadows? Like a superhero. Like...Batman. I think I relate to Batman now." Grace laughs at me.

"Yup, you're the Batman that our Gotham needs. How are we starting it?" Grace inquires. As she does, a smile spreads on my face. Pulling out the diary from underneath the couch's pillow, I show the plan to Grace.
