CHAPTER 21 Silent sacrifice

Emma trembled in Jackson's arms, tears streaming down her cheeks, one after another, without end. She could no longer hold back, the fear from the nightmare along with the lingering pain in her heart spilling out uncontrollably. Emma felt like a small child, helpless against the harsh world, and only in Jackson's embrace could she find some comfort.

Jackson said nothing, only gently held her close. His hands were warm and steady, as if trying to pass all his strength and safety onto Emma. He softly stroked her back, occasionally patting it lightly, as if to calm the storm of emotions raging within her. Every time Emma sobbed, Jackson would whisper words of reassurance, his voice steady and calm, creating a sense of peace.

"It's okay, Emma," he said, his voice warm and gentle. "I'm here now. Everything will be alright."
