Hannah 's POV
The knock on the door was soft, but it pulled me out of my swirling thoughts like a lifeline. I looked up, expecting another mundane work task, but my heart skipped a beat when I saw Christian standing there with a warm smile. He stepped into my office, holding a small brown bag in one hand and balancing a cup of coffee in the other.
"Hey, I thought you could use a little pick-me-up," he said, his voice light and cheerful. "First day and all, I figured it might be worth celebrating."
His presence was like a breath of fresh air. The heavyweight that had settled in my chest during the conversation with Michael seemed to lift, if only slightly. I returned his smile, genuinely touched by his thoughtfulness. "Thanks, Christian. You didn't have to."
