Hannah's POV
The night was buzzing with laughter and chatter, but my focus remained on anything other than Christian. I could feel him sitting next to me, close enough that I could almost sense the tension radiating from him. Yet, I refused to engage. I wasn't going to give in and act like things were fine between us.
Instead, I kept myself occupied with the others at the table. Aubrey, as usual, was the life of the party, cracking jokes and dragging me into conversations. I appreciated it, but I could still feel Christian’s eyes on me from time to time, like he was waiting for me to look his way. But I didn't. I kept a smile plastered on my face, forcing myself to enjoy the company of our colleagues. Joseph and Susan were talking about the upcoming project, and I nodded along, pretending to be invested in the conversation. It was easier than confronting the awkwardness sitting right beside me.
