CHAPTER 39: Trying to Break the Ice

  Christian's POV

It’s funny how just a few days of silence can feel like an eternity. Ever since Hannah sent that icy text telling me to back off, she’s been treating me like I barely exist. Every time I tried to speak to her at work, I got the cold shoulder. No small talk, no smiles, nothing. It’s driving me insane.

And now, here we are on this company trip, forced into these group activities that I normally wouldn’t mind. But right now, all I can think about is how she’s right there and yet completely out of reach. From the time I came here, I couldn't stop myself from drinking.

When I saw her sitting with Aubrey earlier at the bar, laughing and looking relaxed, it hit me how much I missed just talking to her. I was feeling so hurt that's why I kept drinking beer. We used to be able to talk about anything, work, life, whatever, and it felt easy.
