CHAPTER 25 Stay With Me

  Dominic's POV

"Leila, stay with me," when I pushed with my shoulder to open the door to my room. "You'll be fine. You have to be fine."

I laid her gently onto my bed, even pushing away a wayward lock of hair from over her face. She looked peaceful, but it was that peaceful which scared me to death. My hands were shaking as I reached for her pulse, which was there but weak.

"The doctor's coming, sir. He should, um, he said within ten minutes," the head maid called from the doorway, her voice shaking.

"For ten minutes?" I almost actually yelled.

"She could be- uhhhh," I cut myself off. My anger wouldn't help anything. I took in a deep breath, trying to calm the storm inside me. "Fine, have someone meet him at the gate, bring him straight here."

  "Si-sir," she muttered, slipping away.

Again turning to Leila, hand on forehead, inches from her face, I whispered, "Come on, Leila. Don't you dare give up on me now? I need you to fight, okay? I need you."
