Leila's POV
I felt like crap the moment I woke up from a deep sleep. My head pounded, and my whole body was aching. And then, without warning, my eyes flew open. First was that the room seemed very dark. The room around me was alien, and the air was thick with the musk of pine and something very macho. Then, I noticed him, Dominic.
He had fallen asleep on the sofa, stretched full length, and was looking infinitely a small and defenseless. That peace of sleep in which all people grow unrecognizable softened the coarseness of his features. For one moment, I gazed, almost stunned with the strangeness of it all. So incongruous, so exposed: it was only a wonder I was so close to him, that I could see him thus. Then I lost the line of thought about where I was and why I was there.
I fitted them together. And then the last thing I remembered? My heart began racing at that, because it all came back all at once. I'd felt a sharp push from behind, and then nothing but blackness.
