CHAPTER 109 Three Weeks

  Leila's POV

I ran down the hall, panting, fighting to hold it together. My hands shook, and my chest felt crushed under the weight of guilt pressing down on me. But the voice still echoing in my mind- an endless refrain- was Luca's.

  "We'll figure it out together."

How could we possibly figure it out if, in just a minute, Dominic might wake up, and with that, the truth would explode?

I spun around, heading back, but my feet seemed rooted to the spot as a figure filled the doorway. Jocelyn stood there, a smug, infuriatingly amused glint in her eyes, her lips curled in a smile that made my stomach churn.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, suspicion lacing my voice.

She tilted her head back, feigning innocence. "Just checking on Dominic. You know it's only a matter of time before he wakes up."

My heart raced. "W-what are you talking about?"

Jocelyn leaned closer, her voice low and dripping with malice. "Oh, didn't you know? His hand just moved."
