CHAPTER 108 Ray Of Hope

  Leila's POV

"He's stable, for now," the words of the doctor echoed in my mind, a ray of hope. I hadn't even realized that I had been holding my breath until it escaped shakily. Stable. Weeks of torment and uncertainty, weeks of seeing Dominic hang between life and death, and finally something to hope for.

"Stable?" My voice was low, barely a whisper. "What does that even mean? He's waking up?"

The weight of his task reluctantly shouldered in, the doctor heaved one long sigh. "It is difficult to say, but we are hopeful. His vitals are improving, he might wake up soon."

I laid one hand across my chest, willing the racing heartbeat in. Any minute now, he would be awake.

"I-I don't even know how to feel," I whispered low to myself, really to no one.

Luca shifted uncomfortably beside me, he had stood this whole time. It was coming off him in waves to match the turmoil inside me.
