CHAPTER 11 There was no turning back

  Cavin's POV**

The air in the hallway felt heavy as I walked toward Natalie's room, my mind still clouded with thoughts of Eliza.

The way she looked at me earlier—her wide eyes full of confusion and fear, the tremble in her voice—it did things to me I didn't want to admit. Her innocence, her vulnerability, pulled something from deep inside me, stirring feelings I had never allowed myself to feel before.

She was different. Untouched in a way that made me feel both protective and hungry.

I clenched my fists as I reached Natalie’s door, trying to push away the thoughts of Eliza. *She’s just a girl*, I reminded myself. A girl who wasn’t mine, who shouldn’t even be in my thoughts. But despite my best efforts, the image of her soft skin, the feel of her pressed against me in my shirt, was burned into my mind.
