Eliza's POV
The car ride to the wedding venue felt like an eternity. Nikolai sat beside me, his hand casually resting on mine, a broad smile spread across his face. He was radiating excitement, talking animatedly about the plans for our big day. I nodded occasionally, offering polite smiles, but my mind was elsewhere.
I wasn't sure what was weighing on me more—my parents' unrelenting joy over this wedding or the memory of Cavin's burning gaze the day before, ans how he acted and touched me in his cabin, today.I shook my head, willing myself to push thoughts of him away. This was my life now, with Nikolai. It was the right thing to do, wasn't it?
