CHAPTER 67 Trembling under his touch

  Cavin's POV

I clenched my fists under the dining table as I fought the urge to lash out. The tension between David and me was palpable, but I managed to keep a straight face. My eyes flickered to Eliza briefly, and the pain in her gaze nearly unraveled my composure. She had chosen Nikolai, yet something about her body language told me it wasn't as simple as it seemed.

I pushed back my chair once breakfast ended, mumbling an excuse to leave. As soon as I got into my car, I slammed my hands against the steering wheel, my frustration boiling over. The audacity of David, the nerve of Nikolai, and the sheer stubbornness of Eliza—it all grated on me. But I couldn't afford to lose focus. I had a plan, and I needed to stay composed.

The drive to the office was uneventful, yet my mind raced. David wouldn't show up today; I was sure of that. He was too busy scheming, most likely planning how to tighten his grip on Eliza and me. But fate had a peculiar way of aligning things.
