CHAPTER 25: Moving On

“I hate him,” Magda sniffed against Darya’s shoulder. She had returned from the gym, agreed to coffee with Angelo in the afternoon and was sitting on the floor in the kitchen. “Why did he call me now after I agreed to go out with Angelo?”

“I’m still trying to figure out why you’re going out with a giant beefcake of a man.” Darya snickered, he’s not even close to your type.”

“I’m avoiding my type. There has to be a reason all my dates wind up the way they do.” She exhaled. “How are you feeling today? Yesterday you told your parents to go fuck themselves. Any regrets?”

  “Not a single one.”

Magda’s phone rang again and she looked to Darya.

“Answer it, Mags. You’ll be wondering ‘what if’ if you don’t. You don’t have to see him or go out with him again but for your own peace of mind, answer it and then be done with it. Closure or whatever you want to call it.” Darya uncharacteristically pressed a kiss to the top of her head, “I’ll be in my room if you need me.”
