Chapter 39

From Ayor's Perspective:

I had tried several times to contact Teal's mother, but she wasn't answering. So, I asked a few of my brother's men to look for her. My eyes wandered across the lavish living room I was in. Everything screamed wealth and luxury—every piece of furniture worth millions of dollars. Even the harmony in the decor was impeccable.

I couldn't ignore the tone the driver used earlier when we were at the supermarket. I know that tone well—it was warning me of danger. I needed to have a talk with him. But first, I handed Teal's phone to the head maid, Miss Marita, so she could give it to her later. If her mother called back, Teal needed to hear her voice to feel reassured.

I turned to Max, who had just finished inspecting every corner of the room, as if securing the area. Standing in front of him like a statue, I raised an eyebrow and asked, "What kind of danger is threatening Teal's life?"
