Class of 1969
Summer of 1979 The Reunion.
Everyone lived away not close, they kept their fingers crossed that all would show up. Much has been planned for them all to follow a schedule.
" Hi my plane just flew in and I taxied over, then to find my cabin key and here I am," Trish Chandler, said to her friend Heather Green. Both hugging and laughing lightly. Trish was tall and lanky, with long blonde hair waist length, big blue eyes, tan skin, and lovely looking, still kind as Heather had remembered her to be.
" Let's move into the guest house for coffee and Danish. And do some catch-up over what has happened over ten years.
Heather, of African American descent, has small, short black curly hair, and big brown eyes. And laugh to love always being contagious to others laughing with ease. Still kind and vivacious for sure, a carefree vibe. No sooner had they sat down at some couches and a chunky wood coffee table well supplied with coffee and Danish, paper napkins.
They started talking when Jay Rhinelander , showed up ," Jay ," They yelled ," Over here !
He walked quickly to where they sat. " You look the same handsome," The girls told him. A big man, tall and muscular, with dark brown hair to his shoulders back in a ponytail. Big blue eyes a vivacious laugh, yet not a show off by all men just a quiet soul full of caring. " Let me grab coffee and donuts real quick and I'll be back to ya."
He fetched his necessities and stirred lots of cream and sugar in his coffee. Then taking a few minutes to pick out two large maple donuts, his favorite, setting them on a glass plate not paper because we were paying for this luxury for an entire summer. Then walked with ease to the girls, seating himself across from them. Dressed in a short-sleeved gray t-shirt, written across the chest Iron Workers of America. ( In remembrance of the author's cousin Gerry.) A matching cap, blue jeans, 34 waist 36 length, always nice boots just so happens to be western leather boots today. A Texan drawl, sure to remember and kindness to be from God for sure.
Annabelle and Rosetta came next lucky for us all to be eating together by chance. They waved to us. We all wore a name tag sent with the invitation. I'm glad we did because it was easy to spot each other.
Rosetta Free, Chinese, beautiful eyes, long black shiny hair. Tiny in appearance, always cheerful. Annabelle Farley, striking big-boned, shoulder-length curly hair, green eyes, and a laugh to remember for sure. Wearing a hippie tie-dyed dress to her ankles, flip flip-flops on her feet. Brown hair, blonde streaks through her hair. Just the right amount of makeup is raised on a dairy farm. These two are always best friends and still are. They had donuts and coffee with them setting down to join the already-made group.
Annabelle kicked off her flip-flops, seating herself. Soon more friends showed up, Kent Varner, Medium build, blonde, blue eyes, Cubs T-shirt and blue jeans, Converse High tops. Sipping coffee, eating long Johns. Always smart and good-natured. Charlie Fong Chinese, smaller muscles, smiling, caring individual. He drank coffee with a cinnamon roll. " Hello , to you all , glad you got to see me ," he laughed , same old Charlie.
After being reintroduced again, entertained each other with small talk about life from the old days. Then laughing with much joy over it.
Trish handed everyone a packet, which contained, a calendar, summer events, each classmate's cabin number, and names of their job occupations. Each took right away and thumbed through it all. Commenting about this and that they noticed.
Today is a greeting day meant to indulge in our surroundings. Next, they all agreed to meet up after some alone time at their private cabin dwellings.
Much to everyone's surprise, the cabins were spacious, and clean and would be a great home for three months. A big king-sized bed, wow I'm loving it already. Rustic, and Grant Wood Paintings and Cones Paintings.
A nice couch and chairs, coffee tables matching. A kitchenette set and, a small refrigerator stocked full along with the price, sink, and stove. All evening meals together at the restaurant on sight are paid before and included in your stay.
This will be a place of fond memories to be made for sure. Time well spent in the company of classmates. After poetry, all of us gave bits and pieces of our lives.
Through tears, and dabbing her eyes Rosetta, " I was so in love with him, and suddenly he had another woman. He sat me down and Rosseta there is something I must share with you. There is someone else in my life By the name of Vinnie. I'm sorry I am no longer inlove with you. And so he moved away
Never to return. I am starting a new life on my own.
