Liam POV
I tried to eat as much of my plate as I could, hoping it would give me enough energy for the day ahead. Before we could leave, Dr. McKenzie approached us and asked if we could meet her in her office.
It was around the time McKayla woke up. I handed her a small blue teddy bear my mother had bought her. She adored it, especially the attached rattle and other little details.
We followed Dr. McKenzie down the hospital hallway to her office. As we entered, sunlight poured through the windows, filling the room with warmth.
"Please, have a seat," Dr. McKenzie said, gesturing to the chairs.
I positioned McKayla's stroller next to my seat, wanting to keep an eye on her while we spoke. My father and I sat in the wooden chairs across from Dr. McKenzie, who settled behind her desk.
"My team and I have reviewed the tests and monitored her heartbeat. We've made a decision," she began.
