Haylie POV
I met Liam halfway, and as soon as I saw him, I couldn't stop smiling. He walked up to me, stopping just half a centimeter away.
"You were amazing up there," I said, looking up at him.
A smile spread across his lips. "I couldn't have done it without you," he replied.
My heart swelled at his words. Then he added, "Let's try some cake, and then we can head out of here."
Taking a deep breath, I smiled and said, "That sounds like a great idea."
I hoped the cake would taste good and not sour, as some foods had been lately. Liam's hand found mine, and together we navigated through the crowd until we reached the food table. The table was filled with freshly baked pastries, desserts, cakes, and savory items.
Liam grabbed two small plates for us, and we made our way around the table, picking out what we wanted. Once our plates were full, we spotted an empty table, sat down, and started eating.
