Haylie POV 

I followed Liam as he led us away from the park, away from the bustling skate park, and toward a quieter place. The surroundings began to feel more familiar with each step, a faint recognition stirring in my chest.

Then, as I looked ahead, my breath caught in my throat, and my eyes brimmed with tears. There it was—our tree.

My lips parted as I glanced at Liam. A soft, knowing smile spread across his face, and without thinking, I rushed forward, my feet moving on their own toward the old willow tree. It stood there, unchanged, just as I remembered it.

Under the cascading leaves that draped around it like a protective halo, I came to a stop. I set my skateboard down beside me and stared at the trunk, my heart pounding. Our initials were still carved into the rough bark of the oak.

"I can't believe it's still here," I murmured, my voice barely above a whisper. "It feels like it was just yesterday when we were here."
