Chapter 138

Liam POV

I stood there frozen, tears streaming down my cheeks without stopping.

This was supposed to be a beautiful moment, a special chapter in our lives, but instead, it was ruined. The woman I loved had taken off.

"You should've stayed quiet. But no, you had to open your mouth, and now Haylie won't even talk to you," my wolf, Ace, growled in the back of my mind, his voice laced with frustration.

"Go to hell, Ace," I snapped back, anger bubbling up alongside my heartbreak. I wasn't in the mood for an "I told you so." My heart felt shattered, and the woman I loved had walked away because she couldn't stand to be near me.

My eyes dropped to the ground where the white-and-purple test lay beside my feet.

Slowly, with trembling hands, I crouched down and picked it up. Standing upright again, I stared at the two lines through blurred vision.
