Chapter 149

Author's POV

That night was magical for Liam and Haylie. They sat together on the deck for hours, sipping hot cocoa and talking about their future. The conversation naturally turned to the baby.

They couldn't help but discuss potential names and imagine what life would be like once their little one arrived. Both were filled with excitement and for the first time in what felt like forever, a sense of relief washed over them.

They allowed themselves to dream about a life of happiness and stability, despite the looming uncertainty of what tomorrow would bring.

As the morning light broke through, the big day had arrived—the day of their court hearing. Haylie woke up feeling a knot of nerves in her stomach, unsure of what to expect. Liam, however, reassured her, his voice calm and steady.

"Everything's going to be okay," he said, giving her hand a comforting squeeze. "Klinton told me they won't be too harsh."
