I returned home to find that Dashiell had the audacity to come back.

He was even taking a shower in the bedroom.

Aunt Blackwood said, "Madam just got back as well."

I saw the luggage by the door and the house that had been nearly cleared out.

I asked, "Where are the kids?"

"Madam sent the children back to their grandmother's house."

I had a bad feeling about this.

I started frantically searching through drawers and cabinets for those two DNA test results.

But Aunt Blackwood told me, "Don't bother looking. Madam just burned them."

Of course!

I saw the file folder on the table. When I opened it, I found divorce papers from Dashiell's lawyer.

The most important part of the legal document read:

"Mr. Greer is requested to legally compensate Ms. Dashiell for eight years of emotional damages and marital child support, totaling $467,274, and to pay timely child support for both daughters after the divorce..."
