POV Callum
Knock, Knock, Knock
Hearing the rapping on knuckles on my bedroom door I slowly rose from the bed, no matter what world I am in sleep is sacred and yet it always comes to an end.
"Who is it?"
It's Faunalyn my lord"
"I'll be out in a few minutes" I yelled back.
"Yes, my lord" I heard Faunalyn say as she stepped away from the door.
Kicking off the covers I stood up from the bed and stretched letting my rested limbs get some blood flow. Walking over to the curtains I swung them open to let some natural light fill in my chambers. Seeing the artificial light I could see that it was already past noon.
"Alright let's get the work started for today. And see what Azula want's with sending Faunalyn here" I said to myself.
Approaching the cabinet I pulled it open looking at the multitude of clothes carefully placed inside. Taking a pair of plain brown pants and a green tunic I threw them on while picking out some boots to wear. Using my various magics I quickly did my hair to look like legolas.
Finally, all dressed I made my way to the door swinging it open and stepping out of the room. To my left Faunalyn stood quietly leaning on the wall.
"Is there something important that Azula needs?" I asked.
"Of course, today is the naming ceremony of the new town that was built," Faunalyn replied.
Realization coming to me I replied quickly "That's right, I forgot all about that. I've been spending to much time in my lab the last few days"
"When do we leave, it should be a few days out?" I asked.
"Azula and her guards left early the other day. They should have been there already or close to their" She answered.
"Alright then, should we get going?"
"Yes, my lord"
Standing straighter I pulled up the map of my tower and quickly confirmed the location of the new town. Looking over to Faunalyn she gave me a nod and I teleported both of us near the town gates. The world flickered and our surroundings changed from the stones of my castle to the grass hills and forests surrounding the new town.
The town itself was surrounded by some stone walls, despite the fiftieth floor having a more developed ecology than most floors the monsters here still attacked people making the walls a safety feature.
"Let's go"
"Yes, my lord"
Walking forward I approached the closed iron gate, which considering it was mid-day shouldn't be closed. Reaching my hand out I used magic to unlock the gate and start pulling it open. One opened I spotted a small detachment of guards standing there weapons at the ready.
"What's going on? Why was the gate closed?" I called out.
Finally registering who I was, the many guards fell to their knees spouting apologies as well as greetings.
"Everyone stand," I commanded. As they stood, I approached the guard at the front of their ranks "Why was the gate closed?"
"My apologies My Lord, we have had some monster attacks over the past few days and thought it better to keep it closed for right now till they pass" The guard answered.
"Good" I said, getting surprised looks "What? It is the smart thing to do, having monsters enter the town is a pretty good reason for locking a gate"
"Well thank you my lord, I apologize again for the inconvenience" he said.
"It's fine, I should've just teleported directly inside. I was just avoiding the whole bowing thing. Has Azula arrived yet?" I asked.
"The Lady Azula arrived an hour ago, my lord. She is waiting in the town courtyard for the naming ceremony to start"
"Good. Lead the way"
"Yes, my Lord"
Being led through the town I could see the colorful banners hung between houses for the celebration today. The homes themselves were made of brick and wood giving the entire town a more medieval feel then Mina Tirith. I was honestly impressed with the town, the only thing I was involved in was reinforced and smoothing out the ground it was built on. The layout was smooth and natural making it easy to navigate. I also noticed that buildings closer to the walls were shorter than one's closer to the center. It took a few minutes but we finally arrived at the town center, a large stone courtyard made for celebrations and traveling traders.
"Make way for the Tower Master" The guard yelled immediately, making the crowd open up like the red sea.
Walking through the crowd I waved to some of the residents and even to a few children. It was honestly a shock when children had started to be born, although the species I made were made to reproduce it was a different thing altogether to actually see children.
"Tower Master Hiiiiiiiiiiiii"
Hearing the long hello I looked down to my left to see a small Dwarf child waving his hand vigorously.
Stopping, I approached him and kneeled down to his height. "Hello young man, what is your name?"
With the boundless energy of a child, he answered "I am Varric son of Varric"
"Hahaha" I laughed. Pulling out a red scarf I threw it around the child's shoulders "Here you go"
"Thanks!" he yelled.
Ruffling his hair I stood up and made the rest of the way towards the impromptu stage built for this event. Walking past the guards I stepped onto the stage and made my way to stand next to Azula.
"You were almost late," she commented.
"And you are taking your duties way too seriously," I replied.
"Will you be speaking?" she asked.
"No, I will leave that to Hadun and you. Both of you have put a good amount of resources into making this town" I answered.
"Very well," she said.
Before I could reply an older dwarf came on stage, he had a braided beard and long hair going down to his back with a little grey showing.
"Hello everyone, for those new to the town I am Hadun, and I thank you all for being here. The town has flourished for some time now, but it has always lacked a proper name, so I am excited to invite you all here for this ceremony. Afterward there is plenty of food and drink to go around, today is a day of rest for us as well as the final step in completing the town." Hadun spoke then waved Azula forward "I would also like to thank the Lady Azula, she has been a big supporter of this project and was a large contributor towards the funds needed for this town"
Pausing Hadun let the cloud clap at his announcement and at Azula's contribution. It was surprising how far Azula had come since moving here, although she hasn't lost her edge she has become more stable and almost normal for someone in her position. Although I coils see how she flinched whenever her father was mentioned she no longer holds him on a pedestal and can see the horror of some of his actions. Fortunately she never really participated in the war.
Coughing Hadun continued "I appreciate the applause, but that was not the end of my statement. Because of her contributions I have elected to allow Lady Azula to name the town" finishing the announcement people still clapped but it was obviously less enthusiastic.
Stepping to the front of the stage Azula started her own speech that she had no doubt memorized before even coming here.
"Hello citizens, many of you know me but have yet to see me until today. I was not born in the tower yet I am a citizen of it. For a while now I have been actively a part of this town's development as well as Minas Tirith. I know that many people resent the fact that I was given a noble title despite me not being one of you but I am here to stay. I have made this place my home and I will never leave it. I would like to thank Hadun for this honor of naming the first town built within the tower, it is perhaps an honor that I don't deserve but it has rested on my shoulders. I am happy to announce that the name of the town is, Aeloria" Azula said, finishing her speech while simultaneously pulling the cover off a wood sign behind her displaying the town name in gold letters.
Covering my ears the entire town erupted in clapping and cheers at Azula's speech, it was almost deafening. After it quieted down a bit Hadun let everyone go and for the food to be brought out.
Stepping down from the stage I heard the music start playing as I sat down on a nearby bench. I watched as the celebration erupted into fits of eating, signing, and dancing not to mention drinking. It took almost an hour for things to get more settled and move on from complete chaos to an actual party.
Looking around I spotted Azula speaking to a few other nobles and contributors that attended today's event. Letting a smile spread on my face I shook my head as I pushed some thoughts to the back of my mind.
"Alright come on Callum, as Rosevelt said there is nothing to fear but fear itself, I mean you went swing dancing in your last life what's so different now" I said giving myself a pep talk "Yep im overthinking it".
Standing up I made my way over to Azula and her companions as they were still talking. As I got closer I made out some of their conversation which mostly consisted of what to do with tax money.
Gulping down some saliva I approached the group and they all turned towards me. Putting out my hand and bowing a bit I asked "Lady Azula, may I have a dance"
Then the worst thing that any guy could ever think of happened. She laughed, feeling the color start to go to my cheeks she responded.
"Of course Tower Master Callum, I was wondering if you were going to stay all day on that bench" Azula said, taking my hand.
Giving her a nervous chuckle I led her to the center of the courtyard where everyone was dancing. Turning towards her I interlocked our hands and put my other hand on her waist. Then we started dancing, well she started dancing. I was doing my best not to make a fool of myself.
