Confessions and Cold Silence

Iris led Baskhar to a quiet corner of the school courtyard, her heart pounding in her chest. She had been holding back for too long, and if she didn't speak now, she might never get the chance.

Baskhar looked at her curiously. "What's up, Iris?"

She took a deep breath, steadying herself. "I need to tell you something… something important."

Baskhar tilted his head, waiting.

Iris hesitated, her fingers gripping the hem of her uniform. "I like you, Baskhar. I have for a long time."

For a moment, there was silence. Baskhar blinked, as if trying to process her words. "Iris… I—"

Before he could finish, the school bell rang, echoing through the courtyard. Students began moving towards their classes, and the moment was lost.

"Forget it," Iris muttered, shaking her head. "Just forget I said anything."

She turned on her heels and walked away, leaving Baskhar standing there, still trying to understand what had just happened.

Lisa noticed Iris acting strangely the rest of the day. She barely spoke, her usual cheerful energy replaced by something distant and sad.

At lunch, Lisa finally asked, "Iris, are you okay?"

Iris forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired."

But Lisa wasn't convinced. Something had happened, and she had a feeling Baskhar was involved.

Later that evening, she received a text from him.

Baskhar: Hey, can we talk?

Lisa hesitated before replying.

Lisa: About what?

Baskhar: Just meet me after school tomorrow. It's important.

Lisa stared at the message, a strange feeling stirring inside her.

What could he possibly want to talk about?

That night, Lisa sat at the dining table, watching as Felix paced back and forth. His jaw was clenched, his eyes dark with frustration.

She hesitated before speaking. "Felix, is something wrong?"

He stopped, turned to look at her for a brief second, then scoffed. Without a word, he walked away, his expression unreadable.

Lisa blinked, caught off guard by his reaction. She had expected him to say something—anything—but instead, he acted like she wasn't even there.

She sighed, turning back to her dinner. Why is he always like this?
