the blurry face he couldn't see

"Ah… we've met?" Adria cocked her brow, a smile inching to her lips.

"You may not remember it, but… we were quite the close friends." Jade smiled back, her hand now reaching for a glass.

"Well, forgive me for not remembering, but I hope your words are true." The two reached their hands out, and In a matter of seconds, found themselves shaking one another hands.

"I hope you enjoy this." Adria said while pulling her hands back, and taking a look at the party that was still yet to start.

"I already am, now that you're here. The moment I heard of your recovery I was about rushing in, but unfortunately the doctor said visit were closed, after then I didn't have time, and even when I did, I got news you were discharged."

"I understand… work can get… busy sometimes." Adria sipped on her champagne .

"Your absolutely right." She took said, taking a glimpse of hers, and fixing her gaze back on the specimen in front of her.

"And you must be?" she asked in curiosity.

"Dakota Axton… it's Nice to meet you." Jade smiled, and extended her hands, and he took it without hesitation.

Soon, two pair of heels could be heard clanking their way, Adria pealed her eyes off them, and fixed it on the person, or rather, the lady ahead, it was Zendaya.

Eyes fell on her, and for some reason, Adria felt like her spot light had been taken away by just her walking in.

Still, with all the bitter feelings in her, she smiled.

"A drink perhaps?" Adria handed her one, but Zendaya, with a cold iced glanced ignored her.

"How about we talk?" Her arms wrapped around Dakota's, before then pulling him away.

"Who might she be?"

Adria kept her eyes on the two of them, the matter looked serious, but she didn't pay attention.

"His wife… Zendaya Cortez…" Adria turned. "I'm surprised you don't know her." Her voiced became slightly high pitched, and her cheeks folded up into a curve of smiles, before walking away.

"How would I know, when I've never even seen her?" Jade tilted her head with disgust, and it wasn't directed at Zendaya, but Adria.

Three months back…

Adria's phone suddenly began ringing, the sound alone already waking her up, and her alarm kicking in the second the call stopped.

She groaned, her hand patting constantly on the bed, trying to find her phone, and shut out the noises that disturbed her sleep, and she achieved that.

Just when she thought she could gone back to her sleep, her phone began buzzing instead, her eyes flung open with annoyance, and her hands clenched.

Author was gone… and he was no were to be seen, she thought he wouldn't answered it for her… but no.

Glancing over at the device, Adria saw it was none other than her best friend.

"Jade?" She groaned into her phone, placing it on her ear, as her hand went to her head to massage it.

Drinking overnight wasn't such a good idea. Adria thought, her eyes now coming to get another close.

"Are you forgetting what day today seriously is?" Jade asked, her tone now more urgent.

"…Remind me…?" She heard the loud scoff Jade made.

"It's my birthday… and you promised to have it with me."

Adria opened her eyes once again.

That was right… how could she even make a promise, she herself couldn't keep?

Adria got up, the phone still in her ear.

"And who told you I forgot?"

"You just said to remind you!" her tone raised, but then, she inhaled. "Try not to miss it." Suddenly, the call hung up, making Adria pull the phone out her ear, giving it the worse side glance she could do.

Friends… how much more annoying could they actually get.

Adira threw her phone back on the bed, falling back into it as she got comfortable again.

But then her phone buzzed, and Jade had sent a message.

~Don't think after that, you'd be getting any sleep~ it read, and Adria completely woke up.

Was she spying or something?

*** ***

Slowly, Adira pulled up at a hotel, it was big and clearly showed class.

She got out, slamming the door to her car, and standing out for a moment.

Her fit was totally off.

A short lilac gown, a baggy coat, and a slipper.

How much worse could it get? Jade stepped out, and the look she had on, was so not it.

"What are you wearing?" She asked in a slightly shallow tone.

"I didn't have the time to pick out a dress… plus I had work."

"You… went to work dressed like this?" Adria nodded. Guilty as charged. She thought.

"Look okay, I got you this." With that, she pulled her hand up, and there it held, a bottle of champagne, it looked expensive so Jade could've guessed where it was from.

"Seven days off?" She made a quick guess, and Adria shook her head.

"I also didn't have time to make a stop, of I ordered it."

"What?! So you didn't have the time to dress yourself properly, now you didn't have time too get me a gift, a gift from your hands." Jade specified, and folded her arms.

"One," Adria handed it to her. "it is from my hands, two… what's so bad even if I ordered it?" Jade was about pushing more, but lucky, the restaurant owner came out.

He was handsome looking, and that made Adria's cheeks turn red.

She was dressed like a clown, and now he had to see her that way.

He was surrounded by guards, and his well picked out Tux screamed money.

Nothing she couldn't afford. Adria found herself shrugging to that thought, but then he passed, making her legs weak.

His scent was heavenly… and Author never made her feel this way… only a couple of times.

Time played on, and Adria let out a soft chuckle.

"Let's head in."

"…fine."

After that, everything else happened in a blur, they had gone to the roof top, apparently Jade had something to say.

"…There's been something I've been planning to tell you." The door to the roof top opened, and the heavy breeze made Adria feel shivers run down her spine, her coat getting blown back slightly, and her hair equally pushing back.

Jade's grip tightened around her hand, and they kept on walking, until before stopping.

"And I've equally been meaning to do this… let's walk a bit more." Adria narrowed her eyes…but she nodded.

They kept on walking until to the end of the roof top's railing, holding it, Jade turned to Adria with a more serious face now, her hands now leaving the railing, and her expression more colder.

"It's best if I stop the act now." The innocent face Jade once had on was now gone, and she walked up to Adria, giving her a tight slap to the cheek.

"That… is for stealing my man…" With that, she made sure to slap her yet again. "And that… that's out friendship ending."

Adria began chuckling, her hands now on her cheek.

"What man huh? And why… why are you doing this?"

"Because I deserve to." Her words came out plain

Adria's hand dropped, she wasn't going to act blindly without understanding the situation.

"Who did I steal then? From you I mean?"

"You act so clueless."

"Explain."

"Do you choose to act dumb or what?! You and I both know I was the one who first loved Author… yet you went behind my back, and slept with him."

For some odd reason… Adria didn't feel sad, or pity, she could only but smile.

"But you and I knew that… it wasn't me who came up to him first." Adria closed her eyes and began walking towards her, her arms now opening. "we both know that was in the past… so let's let by-gone's be by-gone's."

Jade clenched her hands.

'Never'

That was the last thought that went through her mind, and without thinking, shoved Adria off the too.

If she couldn't have him when she was around, then she would just get rid of her.

Splash!

Jade's eyes widened at her actions, and she immediately held onto the railings to look down, but…

Author was there, standing… and looking up at with a horrified look.

"How did she survive?" Jade asked, finding herself back in the present.
