Preparations

Aurelia's eyes fluttered open as the sunlight shined through the window.

For hours Cedric taught her about Christianity, God, and how one should honor the all-mighty God.

It contradicted all the teachings that she grew up with, not only was God not part of a pantheon he instead embodied everything both creation and destruction, he was the ultimate creator of all things.

And at the same time, he was the trinity, he was Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It made no sense to Aurelia.

Aurelia struggled to understand and comprehend how a single God could wield so much power.

Cedric taught her and gave her a book, and until deep in the night he preached, from the very creation of the world to the sacrifice of Christ.

She had never seen someone so devoted to their faith.

With a yawn she moved herself into a sitting position, finding a trio of Archangels standing where she saw them last time.

'You don't need to watch me sleep you know...' Aurelia would of course never say that out loud, they were ordered to watch over her which included while she was asleep.

As a princess, it made sense as most royalty had guards in the chambers, but as a woman, it made her incredibly uncomfortable.

At least she knew that Archangels were completely loyal to Cedric and that they would not dare betray his will.

Once Cedric was done with teaching her she pleaded for him to stay and sleep with her even if the chances of him having sex with her were 0, Aurelia even tried to convince him that she only felt safe that way.

'Of course, that wouldn't work...'

Aurelia felt stupid for even thinking a man of his caliber would fall for her that easily, but just his willingness to spend time with her and teach her about his faith told her that she had a chance and gave her the will to continue.

"If I need to abandon Chrunus in favor of God I'll do it just so I can have a chance to marry that man," Aurelia spoke to herself, despite a slight chuckle coming from two purified Archangels.

Aurelia pretended not to hear it, after all, it made her feel more at ease that at least 2 of them showed emotion.

While until now she had no way of knowing how to win over Cedric, the path had shown itself before her.

'All I need to do is to become a good Christian warrior!' She nodded confidently, she did not know much about it.

However, that was of no issue, on the contrary, it was a tool that would allow her to spend more time with Cedric.

No, if she was to truly win over Cedric she needed to live according to his ideal, which would be needed if she fulfilled her goals and married him anyway.

With a hum Aurelia jumped out of the bed, she still wore ruined clothing from the battle.

'I can't show up in front of my subjects looking like a homeless peasant.' She looked around the room, Perhaps some demi-human clothing remained after the great cleanup.

Due to the surprise attack, there were bound to be leftover supplies all over the town, and she was proven right as Aurelia opened a drawer, she found a plain black and white dress.

While other articles caught her eye they were all way too large.

'I guess this will work.' She stretched the dress before her, it was clearly meant for someone larger than herself but it would have to make do, it had the large area around its back missing, clearly meant to be worn by a winged demi-human like a harpy.

"Would you guys mind turning around?" Aurelia asked Archangels, fortunately they obeyed letting Aurelia sigh in relief.

Aurelia wished to find proper armor as she disliked only wearing clothing with passion, but it was not a priority, after all mission was an immense success.

The former Demi-Human fort city of Vitpacar was home to the majority of Harpy and Minotaur denizens, Minotaurs especially were troublesome as they were immensely more powerful than the average soldier, even a non-combatant minotaur would easily crush a human soldier if an unfortunate human was caught by surprise.

Aurelia stripped what remained of her old clothing.

'If it wasn't for Cedric and Archangel we would never be able to even approach the town, especially with monsters that champions were.' She sighed as she pulled the dress over her head, clearly pushing her head through the wing hole.

'For fucks sake...' Aurelia frantically got the dress off before pulling it the right way.

"You may turn around, thank you for giving me privacy." Aurelia smiled as she thanked the Archangels.

Her gaze wandered to the blade that the great hero had gifted her, he drilled it into her head that she needed to prove herself worthy and wield this blade in God's Name.

"Zenith..." Aurelia picked up the blade, her gaze looking at the sword with admiration, while no religion in the world as far as she knew followed God however a great man like Cedric followed God with such zeal and devotion, then that being must truly be wonderful.

But how was an unknown god capable of granting so much power to his chosen, it made no sense.

She pushed the blade against her chest as she took heavy breaths, her fingers moving up and down 'Zenith'.

She closed her eyes before gently placing the sword down on the bed, her eyes wandering towards the bible.

'I will learn, for him!' Aurelia sat down and with with a hum she opened the bible.

Aurelia was assured that Cedric would appreciate her effort.

'Maybe he will take me one night if I study this well enough!' Aurelia giggled as she opened the book.

While Cedric went through most chapters yesterday, he still assured her that she should learn and integrate its teachings into her life.
